>CRF250L as a starter dual sport?
When I was younger I had ridden some dirtbikes (mostly 125 and 250 2 strokes) and here recently a lot of my friends have gotten motorcycles. I would like to get one of the new KTM 500 street bikes, however they cost over $10k which is a lot for a hobby I am not yet sure I will like. Would a crf250l be a decent choice to try to start out on then possibly move onto another dualsport once I see that I do actually like riding? My biggest concern is keeping up with my friends since they have sport bikes and Harley's, all with a much higher top end. What does /o/ think?

You are too fat

i bought a DRZ400 as my first motrcycle with no prior experience. its easy as fuck to ride and has more power than a 250. they are also pretty cheap.
mine tops out around 85-90mph, but you can tell the bike doesnt like going that fast.
45-75 is the sweet spot.
and if i am riding around town or country roads the low end torque makes me relatively fast as fuck.

They don't last as long as the Hondas do.

Get a used KTM 500
Even the older models are way better than the CRF250.
Get in /dbt/
But to answer your question no I think the crf is the shittiest dual sport. Get a DRZ or wr250r

It's outperformed in everyway by a WR250R tho.

honda a shit

Just take off the tires that make them useful on dirt and enjoy your smooth ride. Or leave some jack of all trails tires on, your mpgees and comfort.
Also enjoy your bike being stolen and used as a trail-only dirtbike

Honda had pretty clean 2 strokes and that was about it.

the CRF250 will bend its frame from a stationary drop. They are built like shit
