Grandfather was a Cadillac dealer mechanic.
Father was a custom hotrod builder.
Mother raced bomber class ('57 belair).

Nope. My grandfather ran a repair shop in his younger days in the 50's but doesn't know anything about cars beyond the carburetor days. My dad knows jack shit, I have to help him with even the most basic repairs like changing an climate control blower that required unplugging a wire harness and removing 3 screws. Meanwhile I've had the engine and transmission pulled and torn down from my old Wrangler and am in the process of buying bearings, shims, gears and a locker to totally rebuild the rear axle myself.

Otherwise it's pretty frustrating when the person can't figure out jack shit.

I think my dad and mom have taken more of an interest and seem more knowledgeable about their cars, since I started to get more knowledgeable about them. They ask me about issues, and often try to find out what they are and if they can fix them, rather than just going to a shop and shoveling out money.

Earlier in my life, before I was into cars, my dad tried to swap the cylinder head on one of the family cars, though that was more of his DIY spirit. I helped the best 10 year old me could, and learned some stuff too. The job wasn't successful, since just replacing the cylinder head couldn't fix the damage of a dropped valve seat. I think this might have discouraged him when another car the family owned started having issues a couple years later, it was in the shop often and eventually started grinding up it's engine internally. Those two cars got scrapped, even the one with the new head, unfortunately.

My mom was never into cars beyond commuting and taking hers in for routine maintenance. Then she bought a new 201x (can't remember what year specifically) fiesta with the DCT, and when ford's bad attempt at an advanced transmission for an econobox started having issues, she was happy to have me explain what it was and what might be wrong with it, even though the dealer said there was nothing wrong.

So I guess they're alright, they can take care of a car well enough, which is fine by me.

My dad's an ASE certified master tech and has been wrenching for most of his life. He knows more about cars than I could ever hope to know.

My father is into cars, but he's flamboyant in his styling. He understands performance and mechanical. But hes the kind of guy who really likes Rat Rod, Low Riders and skulls.

I'm more of a Rally, Autosport look kind of guy. I have more mechanical knowledge then he does. But that's understandable considering he never made it half way through high school.

My step dad though is different. He's the sort of guy who believes in self maintenance and stock or nothing. He very much a engineering purist.

Mum is into cars in so far as she understands why people like them, but she doesn't know, or care to know, more than a little bit about them and her taste in cars points more toward "I need a car that has [x] amount of luggage space and [y] amount of iphone compatibility."

Dad has been into cars his whole life as far as I can tell and one day I will get him to write me a list of all the cars he has owned. He's definitely an enthusiast and has extensive experience in all things mechanical, but I'd describe him as an off-beat enthusiast because his main criteria for cars is about how quirky they are above any other factors. He has taught me loads and helped me out in rebuilding my first car which was a rusted out Fiat X1/9.

My Grandpa can fix anything with an motor. He worked maintenance on extrusion lines for 37 years before getting into car restoration. My Dad has been a diesel mechanic/truck driver since he was 22. They are the manliest people I know.

And here I am, a fat 23 year old virgin that has never owned a car and spends all day on anime image boards.

My dad is an avionics mechanic and he's worked on airplanes all his life. His wrenching abilities carry over to cars pretty well and he's pretty DIY inclined. He doesn't have a lift or some of the specialized tools and stuff to do major work, but he can do pretty much any typical maintenance work.

Also both of his cars are stick shift, he hates driving auto. And one of those cars is a Miata.

He's into 50s era American classic cars (he grew up in Cuba surrounded by those cars). Besides that he mostly likes Japanese shitboxes. He also really hates sikk mawds, nothing makes him happier than seeing an older car which is still well maintained and all original.

He's pretty /o/ I guess.

My old man used to be /o/ as fuck. I grew up hearing stories of all the old cars he had, especially two that he raced. One was an extremely hot 1961 Corvette. One of the fastest cars on the local strip. The other is a beautiful 1958 MGA, which he raced circuits with. He still has the MGA, but it has been torn apart and rotting since before I was born. (Pic related, the body hanging in his garage).
He doesn't get into cars anymore, outside of doing his own basic maintenance. I know he misses it though, so whenever I'm doing work on my car I'll call him over. I don't need the help, but I know he enjoys it, and I can tell he feels at home in the engine bay of a classic. One day I plan to restore the MG, probably once I've finished my Galaxie project. I'll hopefully get it back on the road before he dies so he can sit behind the wheel of his precious racer again.
