I'm currently torn between the FRS (2013-2014) and Genesis

I'm currently torn between the FRS (2013-2014) and Genesis Coupe 2.0T (2013-2014). I've test driven both cars on the streets and highway, this would be my only car and daily driver.

I love everything about the FRS: the size, handling, exterior, how low it sits, and affordability. The only big con is the infamous lack of power (for passing on highways in LA) and somewhat cheap interior/sound isolation. The lack of power is even worse with the AT which is required due to family possibly having to drive the car from time to time in case of emergencies. The Jackson supercharger is something I'm thinking about but I'm wary about the reliability and I'd have it professionally installed since I'm not confident enough to do such an installation nor am I handy with working on my own car except for basic maintenance. This would of course increase the total cost of the car which brings me to the next car option.

What I like in the Genesis Coupe is pretty much the opposite of the FRS: power and somewhat better interior and sound isolation. The size, looks, handling, exterior is fair in my opinion. From all the rampant posts about QC issues with the Genesis Coupe makes me wary about the affordability. I've even had to tell the dealership to let me sit in the car while they spray down the car with a water hose so I can be sure there's no leakage from the windows which seemed to be a common problem.

As previously mentioned, this would be my only car and my daily driver so making this decision would need to be well thought out and definitive. Any input would greatly appreciated.

>is even worse with the AT which is required due to family possibly having to drive the car from time to time in case of emergencies

fucking stupid.

its your car right? as in you're paying for it with your own money? tell them to take a cab or learn stick.
>>
Has to be A/T?

Genesis 2.0L
>>
>>15810956
Both are for carbabies, but go for the Korean trash so you aren't slower than the average minivan.
>>
>>15810956
You could buy a wrx for about the same money you are spending on a frs. 2 extra doors more power. But if you are buying the car and want a stick get a stick. If your family can't drive it and needs a car tell.them to go get a rental. Or is that a lame excuse to say I can't drive stixk.
>>
>he makes lame excuses for not being able to use a manual gearbox
lmao
>>
>>15810956
>buying an automatic sports car
cuck.

save until can afford a current gen mustang gt.
>>
>>15810956
Get a stang/other pony car. That won't make you want to kill yourself with the a/t and the interiors are just as cheap and shitty as Asian manufacturers
>>
>>15810956
If it's your own money, buy an FRS with a manual. Make the person in your family who would be driving /your/ car in your stead learn stick. You obviously seem to like it more, you'd likely have buyers remorse with the Genesis.

Certain situations have arised where this is necessary due to health issues/complications within the family. Gotta take care of family. Thanks though.

FRS AT no-go?

>>15810998
Looking for a coupe.

>>15811005

Not into American cars.
>>
>>15811019
If it really must be an auto I'm not sure ewhat to tell ya. Only autos I have ever driven were work stuff cause we hire mongoloids who would destroy our clutches.

Almost seems like you would be better off with a turboed forte or optima if you want some passing power.

I know where this guy is coming from with the whole having to own an auto thing. My last gf tried to make me get an automatic, didn't happen. And my current Gf has resigned herself to the fact that she's either learning stick or never driving anything I buy
>>
>>15810956
get something euro or murican
>>
>>15811050
Family/sedan cars would make sense but this is still my car where I'd like to have satisfaction as well. Having an AT FRS/GC doesn't bother me as much as having something like an Optima.

>>15811056
My girlfriend is fine with stick luckily. It's the others I gotta help out.
>>
DSG GTI/R32 or TC-SST Ralliart, I'd go with the GTI, newest possible (likely a MKV R32 or MK6 GTI).

Everything else is a poor substitute. Barring that, just buy a shitbox automatic daily (think used 2nd Gen Prius with a new battery) and your choice of a similar sports car (S2000/E36 M3/RX8/MR2/Corvette/etc).
>>
>>15811077
Sounds more like you should buy a stick frs and a $500 Craigslist beater for those times you need something that isn't a stick.

Better to have what you want and a beater to move your family around
>>
>>15811077
Again, is it not possible to have them learn stick? Health issues with hips/legs or something? I know my mom can't really drive stick anymore since she had her knee fucked up in a wreck, it happens.
>>
>>15811077
>getting an automatic toybaru for the driving satisfaction
wew lad
>>
>>15810956
Eh, I reckon go with the Hoondy, OP. They've really been coming along in leaps and bounds in the past decade.

Also (at least where I live) they're less dime in a dozen, so you may turn more heads.
>>
>>15811114
This. Use the $1000 saved by buying a manual to buy some autotragic piece of shit for your family
>>
>>15811019
>not into american cars
just kill yourself. a good car is good car regardless of where it's made. get a camry and fuck off.
>>
>>15811109
I would love a Ralliart but they're really overpriced with the high mileage they have. Not a fan of the bulbous look of the GTI but everything else about it is nice.

>>15811114
>>15811143
Having 2 cars would be difficult due to limited parking, driveway would be filled up with my car and girlfriend's car and my city has really strict parking guidelines when it comes to parking in the street.

>>15811123
Yep, fucked up arms and legs from work injuries.

>>15811151
I don't care where it's made, I'm simply stating that I don't like cars made by American companies because of the way they look and drive.
>>
>>15811167
That sucks. If you can, test drive the frs with an auto with your family inside it. See how it performs with people in it and AC on. If that's acceptable to you, I'd just get that. I imagine you'll be happy with it regardless of the transmission. Don't listen to the memers here, there will always be next time to get a car with a stick.
>>
>>15811167
Well then. You are just gonna have to pick something and go with it. The correct answer to your problems is a 2 car solution. But if you can't store two cars it doesn't matter. Pick what you liked better in the test drive and live with am auto till you pay off your note.
>>
>>15811167
>doesn't like the mustang
>considering buying the korean version of mustang
wtf are you on about m8

get a hyundai OP, you sound like the kind of retard who should have one of those

Supposed to be more refined than the FRS or Genesis
Also heard the A/T on those are supposed to be gud

muh family, muh girlfriend's car, muh city laws

how old are you?

just get what you want ffs. Doesn't your family already have a vehicle? Why would they need to use yours? If it was available then why not drive the family member yourself?
>>
>>15811167
>I'm simply stating that I don't like cars made by American companies because of the way they look and drive.

You know what EVERY american car drives like? Ignorant faggot.

I was going to help you out OP but I'm afraid you're retarded.
>>
>>15811551

Does she do disney or porn?
>>
>>15810956
Why dont you just teach your closest relatives manual? All of my family learned on manual, I dont know anybody in it who didnt buy their first car in stick. (Mississippi btw)
>>
>>15811284

if by refined you mean bloated and fat

then yes.
>>
>>15811019
duh, obviously AT is a no go. AT is always a no go.
Get a manual FRS, then add power later.

Fuck your family, they should have their own car. They're adults, they aren't your responsibility. It's your money.
>>
>>15811284
The Z is just a Japanese Mustang.
Though is not bad pick. You can get away with AT with Z.
But is a bit more pricey. But at that point, why not just get a Mustang?
>>
>>15810956
If you're going to drive an automatic in any sports car you should just kys. There's literally no point in owning a sports coupe if you're getting to do the same thing you can do in a optima or Mazda 3 even better at that. I have owned both an automatic and manual Frs and I'll tell you now that they're not even the same cars. Trust me its not just a "lol auto tragic xD" argument. I regretted buying an automatic and was lucky some guy totaled my car so I could buy a manual. It sounds a lot practical to just buy a 4 door maybe wrx or something and get a coupe later on in a few years when your situation gets better
>>
i have an auto 2014 gencoup 2.0t and i love it. car has good power, very reliable, and a nice interior. its not often that i see another on the road so its nice to have something that sticks out from the masses. fuck these manual only twats who think that their control of a gear shift defines them.
>>
>>15811962
It doesn't define us, it defines the experience.
>>
>>15811989
stop acting like its that big of a deal. manuals can be fun but for someone who is uninterested in buying one, hes not going to miss out on the "experience" you speak of.
>>
>>15812024
Then he shouldn't buy a car that's about the "driving experience" that has multiple people who have had both staying that the automatic version detracts from the driving experience compared to the manual. Like I said op, your only option is a DSG GTI. That's about it.

>op suggests getting a automaggot transmission
>gets blown the fuck out for being a casual

Autofags on suicide watch.
>>
>>15812034
he listed a number of different things he liked about each car. neither listed "driving experience".
>>
i was able to drift the automatic frs easily

that being said the manual is better, it just feels so much more responsive it makes the car come alive

but have fun in bumper to bumper traffic that shit really sucks in such a light car
>>
If your family NEEDS an automatic, buy them a cheap, used civic or corolla
Or you can tell them to learn how to drive manual

Whats the point of buying a "fun" car if it doesnt have manual?
>>
>>15810956
Buy the Hoondai, just rip gas.
