Can someone please redpill on these things

I feel like it's trying to combine Japanese reliability with German luxury. If the Genesis can pull it off, I think it's a great value buy, but I dont know if these are good or shitty cars.

Anyone have experience with these?
>>
>>15802390
except it's not Japanese reliability

it's Korean reliability

aka shit
>>
>>15802408

They're reliable enough now days. They've come a long ways since the 90's.
>>
>>15802390
>ripped off bentley's logo
>ripped off mercedes design
>ripped off & uninspired interior
>reliability of a 3000gt
There's a reason those pieces of garbage are 50k and not dipping into 6 figures like an s-class. You want a comfy car that's not a piece of Korean shit? Get a Lexus
>>
>>15802455

I dont care about ripping off of other designs. What concerns me about what you said is >reliability of a 3000gt

Thats what scares me, the reiability and the maintenance costs. Like are Korean cars all shitty? I mean forreal without your /o/tist 4chan sperg bias, respond
>>
>>15802589
>Like are Korean cars all shitty?
Yes.
>>
>>15802390
They look incredibly cheap in person. Like really cheap
Koreans can only build cars that look half decent on paper
>>
>>15802422

that's what I'm saying. i'm hoping these arent like Benz and BMW where it costs 400$ to replace a light bulb. Are Hyundais reliable enough?

It's basically Genesis vs 2015 Challenger for me. Challenger is more up front costs, but if it's more reliable then its ok
>>
>>15802612
as much as i dislike Chrysler, even a base model v6 challenger will be better than that Korean trash. if it's a v8 challenger, there's no question. the challenger is better in each & every spec.
>>
>>15802455
>>ripped off bentley's logo
>>ripped off mercedes design

>implying that's not good
>>
>>15802658
>ripping off other brands in the hopes of riding along on their reputation and success
>ever good
>>
>>15802794

you are correct, but this thread was aimed more towards the nuts and bolts of the car - the reliability and dependability

>>15802640
I'm going for the R/T Scat Pack. So yeah the performance is better, but they are two different types of cars. I'm really only comparing the reliability here right now. The V8 Genesis is 420hp btw, not to shabby
>>
>>15802834
Koreans are great at making a car that looks like the best option on paper

then you realize they're badly built, badly designed, and badly ripped off from other more reputable brands because Koreans can only build knockoffs of existing things
>>
>>15802834
the fucking scat pack? why is this even a choice, go out and buy the damn thing right now. this shouldn't even be a question. you'll have tons more fun in an infinitely more reliable car. you won't regret the challenger.
>>
>>15802850

People see rip offs because they want to see rip offs, they in reality don't look anything like what people claim.

Hell any time they release a car, people will claim they look like 20 different cars that look nothing like each other.

>>15802611

You have probably never been in one or never been up to one. They don't look cheap at all.

>>15802589

Both the V6 and the V8 have shown no issues with reliability at all.

>>15802455

Ohh shit a 50k car doesn't cost 100k, no fucking shit.
>>
>>15802885

well the scat pack is also like 10g more expensive, so thats why. And I do like the look of the Genesis. Tbh if the reliability wasnt shit like you guys say it is, it's a good value.
>>
>>15802913

It isn't shit, I work at the Largest Hyundai/Kia parts warhouse. In my 5 years working there, I have shipped maybe 5 v8 engines out and a hand full of transmissions. They are all just stacked up in crates collecting dust because we never have need to send any.

The only real big engine orders we were having was the 2.0 Theta II's in the optima's because Kia put spark plugs that were heat rated to low and cylinder 4 in the turbo optima's were passing that point and causing the plugs to separate destroying the engine.
>>
>>15802957
Why would you lie on a bench racing forum

I could claim that I helped engineer the new Genesis and provide no proof

Your post is as valid as Hyundai's reliability
>>
>>15802913

http://www.edmunds.com/hyundai/genesis/2015/consumer-reviews/

V8 Genesis 2015 - 25-28k Usd$

2015 Challenger Scat Pack - 34-37k Usd$

So yeah the challenger is "better" but its also 10k$ more. And I like the look of the Genesis man they're p good lookin. But I dont want that shit to be in the shop all the damn time, and I dont want it to cost like a BMW to maintain.

I duno how you guys love korean women so much but hate on their automobiles

The v8 sedan is probably the best value for dollar in that segment. Its a fucking monster and while it doesnt look as high end as a similar BMW or Mercedes the difference isnt worth the 20-30 grand in the price tags.

Hyundai's are probably middle of the pack in terms of reliability. But they have a great warrenty that you either dont get or have to pay out the ass for with other manufactorers.

Half the people here are fucking trolling Hyunadi isnt that bad at all. Even the Genesis coupe thats catching shit for some reason in this thread is a pretty fucking great first attempt for the manufactorer even if its not quite up to the standards of companies that have been doing it for 50 years. Plus dat warrenty.

I just completed the brand's inaugural training the past week in Chicago. I'm a Genesis Experience Manager. They are doing a lot of neat things. You will be able to test drive the G80 and G90 from your home or office and you have valets that come to your home to pick up the car for its service. The cars are Amazon Alexa compatible and the G90 will come with a card redeemable for its own unit.

The G80 is competitive in its class, but really it's the G90 that impressed me the most. In the most important ways, it is better than an S Class or 7 Series. The S Class has some nicer interior materials, but the G90 is more comfortable, way superior ergonomics, and better interior room. The Germans offer higher end performance versions that the G90 doesn't have an answer to (like the 750's twin turbo V8), but the G90's 3.3T is superior to the 740 and A8's standard V6 options and the 5.0 Tau V8 is a highly awarded engine that gives the G90 great power.

The other area in which the German cars are better are if you prefer that kind of driving feedback. I noticed that the suspension and balance in the 7 series was much more responsive and punchy than the G90, like you could throw it around like a smaller car, but you also felt a lot more of the road. The G90 is much more cushioned and softer, even in its "sport" mode I didn't notice much difference.

The G90 is the best overall in terms of interior design and comfort, standard safety features, and obviously warranties. The A8 I thought had the second best interior design, but the cheapest materials. In some ways the G90 had better materials than the S Class, like its headliner and handles, but the leather on the S Class seemed nicer an more substantial. The S Class has a really goofy TFT display though that aesthetically clashes with the more classic Italian speedboat look of the rest of the interior. Aside from the rear legroom, the 7 series was the most boring and unspectacular interior.

The first Genesis was actually an amalgamation of a lot of different cars. The S-klasse and 5-series of the time were the biggest ones. That's my fucking point. All developing countries copy. That Jap guy pretends that Japanese people never copied and they are geniuses that made 100% original products since Matthew Perry's arrival.

South Korea hired Japanese and European advisors during the 70's and 80's. It's true and it's fact. Now We are starting to make original products and we are becoming better.

China is in the "copy phase" right now and they will make decent cars in a few decades too. It's a cycle: Japan copy Western tech, Korea copy Japan tech, China copy Korean tech. Nobody is superior and that one Jap poster in this thread should get over it.

Well this is tough. You may or may not be surprised, but South Korea was one of the poorest nations in the world (lower GDP than all Sub-Saharan nations) and we used to get food handouts from the UN well into the early 1970's. People used to literally shit on the streets until the economic boom in the 80's and people used to literally defect to North Korea until the late 70's because they had a better economy.

Mother used to tell me how people used to have no manners and it was basically a Darwinist nightmare where only the strongest survive. Corruption and bribery was rampant from business to society itself. Everyone cut lines, streets were filthy with shanties, people didn't care is somebody died, et cetera.

We worked hard to become a 1st world economy and society and I believe the Chinese can pull it off too... somehow and eventually.

Any company concerned with marketing to youth today does this. They pay a small little marketing company to advertise their product via viral means. When you think of shills, you usually think of people writing elaborate posts about how this is the best product ever and it has changed my life, but it's generally a bit more simple. Shills are paid to keep the product in a person's mind and let users discuss it amongst themselves. Look for doting, innocuous posts that don't say much, but want feedback. In the past year or so we've had these kind of threads started with the same subject line about the same models with the same goals. 4chan is a favorite of these people because there's no regdates or accounts.

A lot of companies do this today, it's not some big concerted operation, just one part of a grand marketing scheme.

Very possible. The "Genesis experience manager" guy talked like a dealership man.

But let's not dismiss ALL compliments for Hyundai as if they were all paid shills. Korean cars are improving bit by bit every generation. At least admit that...
>>
>>15804035
Yeah, they're just "okay" cars. Hyundai/Kia feel no different than every other economy car and the Genesis brand is about on par with Buick and Chrysler. I just fucking hate shills.

Yeah I fucking hate shills too. Even if there were people online shilling how large my dick is and how great of a person I am I would tell them to shut the fuck up.

I wish people behind marketing would all shoot themselves in the head. All dishonest people trying to make money.

This thread is pretty much over. Nice talking with you. I'm out.

But I'm a new poster, anon.
I don't have a formed opinion on Hyundai except that they're Asian and I wouldn't buy them. However, I have to admit that the interior of the Genesis has impressed me, at least from what I've seen in pics. Looks really nice for a 40k car. If I had to buy a brand new full size luxury car perhaps I'd get one of those. I think there was a Maserati for around that money too but it gets Italian reliability, kek
>>
>>15804107
Yeah that low-res image certainly allows for a great impression of interior quality doesn't it

It certainly looks much better than this. Also what do you need higher resolution for? Higher resolution still wouldn't make it a substitute for seeing the real thing.
>>
>>15804011

i made this thread about a used Genesis, korea gets no money from that. I just want a nice car. and the guy said himself he worked for Hyundai so its not like he was trying to hide that fact. just because someone is "shilling" doesnt automatically make it a false statement. at least the guy has actual experience w the car. now that doesnt mean im going to go buy one tomorrow, but its all part of the collective research you should do before making a big purchase. same as the Nip anti shilling against Hyundai - I listen to his opinions too, but this is fourchannel - everything should be taken with a grain of salt. you know whats actually less productive than shilling for either side though? fucking world war 2 insults jesus christ
>>
>>15804158

There wAS A MOTOrtrend video where they sat in different cars and the genesis was there top pic compared to the new continental and caddy .

Who the fuck talks like this?

>>15804196
>It certainly looks much better than this.

Not it fuckin doesn't. Both have cheap plastic on the whole center stack with the same fabric and same wood. They're both middle-rate gussied-up economy cars for people who couldn't stomach the price for an actual luxury car. It's almost the exact same design as a Sonata for fuck's sake.
>>
>>15804199

Just saying the "Nip anti shilling" in this thread was basically one guy repeatedly saying Korean cars are shit.

Not really an argument if you ask me.

Look at the room, look at the shitty shifter buttons on the lincoln,
>>15804252
It is a full size luxury car, even if a cheap quality one.

We fucking need ID's in this board.

It has a lot of stuff only found on luxury cars and it provides comparable comfort. In my book that's a luxury car. If a fucking Lincoln is a luxury car then the Genesis absolutely is.

Luxury cars are expensive. I'm sorry that you are too much of a desperate special snowflake who wants his gookmobile to get respected he's willing to bend definition, but that's a long way off, chap.
>>
>>15802390
My supervisor had one when I started, really like the car, and he thinks it's so fast, it's quick. He's a fat fuck. Thought I'd add that
>>
>>15804337

Well the article was made at the time when they were going around testing plenty of vehicles interiors at the autoshow. They had no real reason to support Genesis.
>>
>>15804318

so your solution to shitposting is more shitposting? the fuck are you on about faggot. we asked you about the car. im not on either side you fucking cunt nigger
>>
>>15804426
They had every reason to. That reason being money.
>>
>>15804441

Liar. You were baiting me into this discussion with a loaded question. Everyone that was posting at that time were the same 3-4 people that were flinging shit at each other for 1 hour; unique poster count was not going up in this thread for hours.

Don't pretend to be neutral, dipshit. Burn in hell.

Can a mod close this thread already

I'm actually looking at getting a 2015 Genesis 3.8L AWD if I can find one. The best part about them is almost 42" of head room for tall people like myself

Why does everyone say Korean cars are unreliable? My friend owns a 2008 Hyundai santafe with 120k miles and the only thing wrong with it is one of the tail lights went out 3 weeks ago, never broke down once

Stop projecting. Genesis isn't even available in my country, I'm just an outsider making observations. The only full size luxury cars you can get here are the Germans, 7 series, S klasse and A8. Even Lexus is hard to find.
>>
>>15804570
Since your post said something in this thread, he has to trust everything everyone else said, and not believe what he sees.
>>
>>15802408
Post 2008 Koreans are pretty damn reliable, and they come with good warranties.
>>
>>15804448

Ohh yes because Ford and GM didn't pay off jalopnik. Hyundai definitely tossed them a few shekles to shill for them.
>>
>>15804467

I made the thread jackass; tell me again how I'm a shill and not a person seeking information. You are one all star faggot right now; true cancer. God bless.
