Benefit of a/t is a park gear, and a "soft" reverse.
Throw it in R, hit accelerator, slow down, throw it in P, stop. The torque converter actually deadens the jolt to the tranny from suddenly hitting reverse. In an m/t not only does this method threaten your tranny, it could also hurt the engine itself, as all that backwards torque (engine braking) hits your crankshaft.

I set the EBC on a friend's FC on high boost one time to play (he's not a carfag and drove it like a grandma). Massively fast, probably over 400 even without functioning meth injection. I was on a short road with a T at the end. Grabbed second gear, then third. When I shifted into third the throttle never came off the floor, it was stuck under the carpet.
