ITT: Times you fucked up wrenching your car / bike. I've had two bigger fuckups wrenching my Kawasaki:
Installed new chain and somehow messed up installing the connecting link, chain breaks on highway. Was super lucky that it didn't bind the back wheel and I managed to stop safely.
Other fuckup was when I was installing magneto back in to the bike, I somehow managed to install the pickup coil wrong way. Spend quite a while wondering why the fuck it won't start. Luckiky the flywheel only broke the plastic casing but the coil was fine otherwise and worked once I turned it around.

> Removing chrome bumper from car
> It's attached with coach bolts
> It's been attached for 41 years
> Struggling to get the nut off
> Pull out the cheater bar and start hammering it
> Snap the nut off and the thread
> Spend a couple days looking at it until I realised I could hammer the rest out with a punch
>fuel leak
>replace fuel line under intake manifold
>car doesn't start
>turns but no bang action
>start removing intake manifold and icv
Wait a minute...
>Car was out of fuel.
>mfw
Broke a few of those panel clips. That is all.
It's hard to fuck up when you have google and Haynes manuals. As long as you have the right tools.
> Be installing diff
> Get everything out. Everything is going well.
> Take off old ring gear to put onto new diff
> Bolts won't fucking turn
> Get 5ft breaker bar
> Get all the bolts to turn, just loosen them all up
> Took the fury of 1000 suns to do this
> Look at bolts
> Big "L" on them
> They're left hand thread
> mfw I broke ALL the bolts
> Parts store was closed
>Had to leave the truck without a diff over night
> Next day
> Get new ring gear and bolts
> Everything goes smoothly.

FFS.
'im pretty new to working on cars
i bought a foxbody as my first car and changed the distributor cap, rotor, spark-plugs and spark-plug wires apparently i didn't put the spark plug wires in the right order. now the car wont start
its been a week i've tried so many different orders and still nothing
i feel like an idiot

are you sure you're getting spark? crank it over with one of the plug wires off and near some bare metal, like a bolt head or something. do you see little blue sparks jumping between the wire and bare metal surface?

try this man, just found on google.

This is why you turn both ways if you think a bolt, or nut is stuck.
>Replacing brake shoes on rear brakes
>Pull off brake drum
>Wheel bearings fall onto the ground
>Put them aside
>Change brake shoes
>Forget which way the wheel bearings went
>Stick them in there in a seemingly logical way
>Put brake drum back on
>Tighten up hub nut
>Crunch
>Remove hub nut and brake drum
>Bearings fall everywhere, some have sheared in half
>Have to leave car on jack stands with rear brake wrapped in a carrier bag
>Take bus to work the next day instead of driving
>New wheel bearing arrives
>Actually read the Haynes manual this time
>All goes well
>replace window regulator
>fuck up somewhere along the way
>door now rattles on rough roads/bumps/closing
>pulling crank pulley off my 2000 neon
>fuck she's tight on there
>start drilling and chiselling
>pulleys fucked now but at least I got it off
>realize i wasn't pushing against the shaft with the puller
>was pushing against the pulley
>this was today

Bleed your cooling system.
Yes again.
And probably again after that
Most recent was the ol' wrench across the battery terminals.
