I figured something like this would happen, batteries get hot very fast when you cram amps into them at a fast rate, and this is in addition to the batteries being very hot from driving already.

Still safer than a Ferrari. Mario forgets to torque a fuel line connector down to spec, and the car bursts into flames during normal operation. Then all you have is an engine block and a puddle of melted composites.
