Why can't I find any good car deals in the UK?

Even a new Fabia is going to set me back around £12,000.

Is it just me or is the UK car market retarded? Or am I retarded thinking these prices are insane?

What would you recommend for me lads?

Find a pre reg one for sale, much cheaper
>>

A car like that isn't worth getting brand new mate, I know it's nice having a new car but losing 5k when you go to sell it 12 months later isn't really worth it
>>
looking for a smaller 4 door?

does it have to be new or something?

ideas about fun driving, engine, lugging things or brands?
>>

Don't mind if it's a 2 door, probably prefer 2 door actually.. nope nearly new is fine.. or something that has low mileage preferable.

I'd like something that's comfy more than anything but packs a bit if a punch when I'd like it too or I may get bored of it.

It will be my first proper car if you know what I mean. I currently drive a 05 Corsa with 173k miles and it was a learners car (I actually learned in it) so it's beat up! I've spent a few hundred to keep dr going but it's time I upgraded as I'm commuting a lot more now.

Something nearly new is totally fine because the cost savings are immense.

Wouldn't buy brand new unless I was rich or stupid considering I have only 16k saved and that'd be most of it gone on something I technically already have..

> Skoda
Not even once. Just buy a used Ford or Vauxhall. Much better cars, even used. An older, decent car is better than a new shitty one.

i am biased towards the suzuki swift myself. not a bad car, maybe not comfy as such, but very good fun, especially the sport variant. not very powerful though. you can always get a civic or a yaris or something, they are safe bets but pretty boring. polo should do the trick aswell. thing is, most of these hatchbacks are great, including the hyundais and that other korean company, kia i think. it really comes down to trying a few out and see what feels good to you.

if i could have chosen, i'd have gone with a new twingo, the aforementioned swift, or attempt for a cheap 1-series because muh skids

Brand new car prices here are totally meaningless because pretty much everyone leases new cars. Almost no one walks into a Skoda dealer and drops £12k on a new Fabia.

If you are wanting to buy, get something a couple of years ago where someone else has taken the depreciation hit and don't waste vast sums on a small car like that.
>>

Ah okay, I knew a lot of people leased cars my age because it's fairly obvious but I didn't always know that, I just thought i was extremely poor for a bit.

Yeah I think getting a decent used car will be the best bet and as another mentioned I think I'll have to test some out.. I'm always worried that I'll get ripped off or something though :/
>>

The Ford Fiesta looks good, do you think I should maybe try buy a ST for 10k? Or stick to a normal type and buy a newer, less mileage one for a bit less?
>>
>>15631628

Look for a cheap Polo.

If you have a bit more dosh - go for the GTI variants of the Polo or Golf, or a Fiesta ST.
>>
wait for swift sport next year. Or collect some money and get a vitara turbo (s).
Suzuki are gods at making worthwhile fun econoboxes. If you dont mind rigid plastics, that is
