What reliable econobox can I get on the cheap?
Don't say Corolla or Civic. Definite tax there for 'muh reliability'. $1000 extra on a car this cheap could mean a good 1/3 increase in price over the competition.
I will entertain a Ford or a Kia or whatever if it's means not haggling with some dip trying to sell a 15 year old Corolla with 150k miles for $4000.
I just want an automatic 4 cylinder to get me here and there.

What are you talking about? I see AE102s and AE110s for $1500-$3000 all day, look harder faggot
Mazda 323/Familia/Protege?
I know certain Kias are based on those as well, so they should be alright. Ford Escorts, too (including the ZX2).

you literally just told me to look at 20+ year old vehicles

>implying that's a bad thing
>>15619249
Your point is what exactly
A 96 Accord is plenty reliable. I know at least four people that have/had one and they never give problems. Replace the accessories when they wear out, don't overheat it, it'll run to 400k.
Pay no more than $1,750 for a perfect condition example 95-99.

regardless of your opinion on driving older cars, if i thought $4000 for a 15 year old car sucked, why would $3000 for a 20 year old car be any more appealing?
our 92 corolla runs better than a lot of newer cars. we snagged it for 2k with 100k miles on the odo.

Geo Prizm. Toyota Corolla without the Toyota Corolla tax
>>15619262
I don't know, you tell me why someone would want to pay 2x what a car is worth.

Seriously this.
My last corolla was $300 running and driving.
But this guy

Is correct
Protege is great. LX model has a miata engine.
Escorts had trans issues and have really odd placement of alternator and PS pump that make them a little difficult to work on.
