Recently acquired a cheap old Nissan drift car as my first car
the problem is that it's straight piped, which isn't legal in my state
the car came with the OEM cat
so my choice now are either to pay a local mechanic 120$ to switch it out for me
or DIY it and maybe kill myself
because the pinch welds are messed up (make sense as it's a track car)
and also the subframe connectors over the pipe
so what would /o/ do in this situation?

You're a retard
it was my cousins, he gave me a really good deal, I didn't really had a choice

Unless you plan in taking an old, worn out champion and restore it to its former glory and position, you're retarded.
De-mod it, a factory 240 is rarer and more impressive than any drift tune.

You always have a choice.

that can be a plan for the future, for now I just need to get to work and college

remove the sub-frame connectors and sell them. use the money to buy a stock exhaust and have it installed.
$120 isnt a lot, just pay a mechanic to do it properly. You could also get them to check the car over for problems while it's there as i bet it's pretty beat up.

ok I'll sell them, the exhaust is custom mandrel bent though I might keep em

a random dude at a car meet told me I was getting scammed tho, is that the case?
he said 60 dollars is plenty for the job

nah. That's pretty decent actually.
