I'm trying to change the fuel pump in my 97 malibu and I was wondering if I can just pull the hardened plastic lines off the top part and slip them on the new one or if I can like fuse the plastic lines together if I cut them back.

The most horrible vehicle I've ever had to drive. Anything is a better vehicle than that gen Malibu. I had a Chevette and a Skyhawk(Buick Cavalier) both were better than that fucking Malispew.
Use a lighter or torch to melt the plastic lines back together. You'll thank me later.

I had a wonderful Chevy Monte Carlo that I ended up blowing the head gasket on like a fucking moron.
Pic is what I am working with and I'm curious about the hard black plastic lines on the white part that the name escapes me

If anyone can give me some advice on this I'd really appreciate it. I'm not that experienced with cars and I don't want to fuck with the wrong lines or whatever
