Hey /o/, looking for some help winning an argument between me and my retarded buddy.
I bought my first manual transmission car about 3 weeks ago, and I picked my friend up to go for a drive not long after I got it and he was utterly puzzled at something I was doing while driving.
When I was racing someone at a set of lights, I put the car in neutral, clutched in, selected first, put the car back in neutral, took my foot off the clutch, (obviously waited for the race to happen) floored the throttle and when I wanted to go simply put the car in first without use of the clutch.
First time I did this he didn't seem to notice as obviously you've got bigger concerns than to check out someones footwork while were doing that, but the second time he looked at me like I was a fucking idiot.
I know launching a car in any way is hard on the components, but is this really that bad or is my friend just one of those morons who babys everything? I told him that as I put it into and out of first the syncros were up to speed so it doesn't even matter that you're not using the clutch, but he wouldn't have it. He doesn't even drive a manual is the reason I don't believe him.
Who is right?
