Some rich kid paid Nakai to fly out to Philly and build a Porsche for him.
Have you guys seen this? I checked the catalog and didn't see anything.
Thoughts?
he labeled himself as a bench racer

What is an RWB Porsche?

Another one bites the dust
i hate rich people who dont use their money to help others
nothing is worse
>>15571677
rich people will literally give you money if you do something for them
While I think it's insanely egocentric to make a film about yourself and your "project", which in his case amounts to "throw money at it and put things you only see in magazines and blogs" (like come on rotiforms on a porsche and rwb kit? has this kid been into cars for 2 days and reading speedhunters only?), and while the kid certainly has daddy money (nothing wrong with it) and said some lines I thought were bullshit ("put so much effort into this project, didn't go out partying on the weekends with friends" like really nigga?), in the end the father, friends, rest of the family, nakai himself, seemed to be cool and having fun with the project anyways, so no harm done.
And I'm a fan of the RWB Porsches and Nakai himself, so it's pretty cool to see another one rolling out.
That said, I prefer his more original creations back in japan (like his own, the satin black one is fucking sexy), and they do race them over there so it's a bit more legit than just a kid buying a kit, now that the whole process of having a RWB kit has been streamlined and there's contacts and distributors around the world.
It's not even that original, and the interior is really posh unlike the more actually raw RWBs like the name would imply.
>>15571677
Look, if you have $10 than the guy next to you, you are technically richer than him. You could give away all of that $10 as a donation but would you simply? Same way as>>15571692
said, you gotta do something in order to get monies.
>>15571648
rear wheel brive
Anyone got that image of the underside of an RWB porsche with the gnarley as fuck looking welds?

Okay I'm covered in shitstorm now.
I meant to ask what is the idea behind an RWB Porsche?
>>15571778
Some tramp gook ruins a good car aesthetically and dynamically in return for lots of $$
>>15571778
Race car aesthetics for street car posers personified by a self absorbed Nip who says he's a loner who only cares about ruining one Porsche after another.
>>15571778
Dude in japan makes bodykits for what are (or were) cheap porsches.
It's a pretty close group, they go racing sometimes, have meets, all that local shit.
Bloggers go crazy over it like other wapanese stuff, cover it a ton, give him a ton of exposure, and the dude expands business because of international interest.
Now it went past blogging, it's been covered by magazines, features in a game even and there's more attention.
>>15571793
>>15571801
Well, now they do cut up Porsches in good condition, but the original idea is neat, that one of giving old ones, rusted out, neglected ones that were going for cheap another run.
And many do like the look, it's like a 934 or RSR kind of look, with a tint of dorky japanese stuff on it.
>>15571618
I like how RWBs look, but I can't see the body kits as ever being worth it. I doubt they are tested for aero and Nakai's """craftsmanship""" seems questionable especially when he just plays by ear.

Okay, I get it now. He kind of destroys each beautiful Porsches. Thank You....for the info.
>>15571864
next time lurk more. you'd know what this was if you browsed /o/ at any time during the last 2 years.
>>15571864
>>15571618
Does RWB do shitbox Porsches? Like 944?
>>15571863
It's not that I disagree with this guy but:
>In the long run, everybody wants to see original, period-correct cars. Owners of aircooled Porsches should be conscious of their obligation to future generations.
That's a lot of entitlement there for something as trivial as this.
Not everyone wants to see original period correct cars, not that I don't or a lot in /o/, but clearly there's a whole market for them, and it's not new.
I mean, the whole hot rod scene is basically this. To this day sure there are incredibly mint cudas going for a million or so, but then you have the common drag cudas, the new pro-touring subculture cudas, and so on.
There's no need to be analpained about something like this.
Sure, there aren't that many 911s as there are civics but come on:
>Wikipedia, 964
>Production: 1989–1994
>62,172 built
And there's like what, 30 RWBs in the whole world?
>>15572018
Don't consider only his work, consider his exposure motivating others.
>>15571618
the bodykit looks so shit, not surprised it's owned by a fuccboi
>>15572026
It's still tiny the amount of porsches that will get fucked.
Sure at some point they are cheap, but never quite as cheap to get fucked with regularly without care by anyone (like any highschooler being able to do a shit hack job for a stanced miata).
And even then, there's like >8000 930s alone, so I'm not even mad if they touch "rare" porsches (outside of the proper rare)... they are some of the most (if not the most) sold high end sportscars.
Really, it's just people overreacting to an otherwise small amount of cars that do get massive coverage on the internet, it's like a minority who's really loud.
And let's say everyone does start to do it.
Then, as dictated by common social behavior, a new counterculture to counterculture will react and so everyone will start saving them as mint as possible due to increased rarity or demand for mint, so no worries either there.
I mean, people have been fucking Dinos and Modenas since they came out but no one cares.
>>15571996
Tip taken 8D
I love the way the black silicone looks in between all the panel gaps. Is there a way to achieve this that is reversible without damaging the paint?
/r/ing the pic of the fucked up exhaust welds
>>15571861
Honestly, his kits are a meme. The bolt on look is going to look dated as fuck in five years.
>>15571648

no idea why anyone would ever want a porsche to look like that.
none.
>>15580172
desu I kinda like the bodywork. but the fact that its lowered on those ugly ass wheels kinda kills it.
It needs that race car stance.
>>15580172
Well it's an aesthetic that has been found on Porsche racing cars for a long time in various forms as >>15580930 pointed out.
RWB can trace his cars appeal directly to the 993 GT2 racing car, though.
That wing is awful I don't care what anyone says. I live in Philly this emabrsses me to be from the same city

>>15581667
dude cars are a consommation product
and i think a Porsche isn't comparable to the mona lisa
since you know there is a shitload of porche compared to a unique paint
that would makes sense if you owned a unique 2 mil dollars cars
>>15581703
>and i think a Porsche isn't comparable to the mona lisa

>Akira Nakai isn’t running Rinspeed or Ruf. He probably doesn’t understand the cars well enough to make major changes on them.
wait does this guy not like Ruf either?
lol, this guy just screams 'look guyz im a car entusiast nao!1'
It's like he bought the last Need For Speed, decided he was a tuner, and then yelled at his parents until they bought him a Porsche to ruin. I can't believe they flew Nakai out and paid whatever his fee was.
>>15581749
ok dumd fuck
