So I bought a saab! It has 207000 miles on it, and I was wondering if I should fill it with premium gasoline, even though it had been filled with regular and only premium on every third fill.. And if I should use full synthetic oil. What if the person before me who owned it didn't use full synthetic and I start using full synthetic? Give me tips on how I can make this car run good and fast for as long as possible. It's a 1994 Saab 9000 Aero 5 speed 2.3 t

unless it calls for premium gasoline there is no benefit to putting premium gasoline in a car that requires regular.

Nothing. Synthetics are better, plain and simple. Conventional is dead unless you have an older car where it mattered to use conventional.

Nice car OP, I have one of those myself. Only use full synthetic and 98+ RON gas. Check when the DIC was last replaced and carry a spare in the trunk (original, not one of the Chinashits - NGK sells original SEM units here in Europe but I don't know about America) if it's been more than 100k miles.

If you wanna get into modding it, here's what I'd recommend:
-poly suspension bushes all around
-strut brace
-poly gearbox mount (haven't done this myself yet but I hear it's a good investment)
-sports exhaust (again, I haven't done this because of shitty laws in my country but if you wanna tune the ECU it's almost a must)
DIY ECU tuning is dead simple with this car, check out the trionictuning and ecuproject forums. Also, don't treat it too rough. In my experience these cars like to be driven fast, but not banged around like crazy, else stuff might get loose and rattly.

Your paint looks pretty nice by the way, mine's all fucked up.

Also the 9000 aero can be made to be ridiculously quick


Look up Jzw tuning and look at what performance parts you need to get to whatever stage of tune you want

Standard turbo upgrade path is usually exhaust into injectors and bigger intercooler then eventually turbo upgrade

Turbo doesn't mean it needs higher octane. A Turbo Golf TDI uses regular octane, my S/C i4 uses 91/93 octane, getting better results on higher octane. Octane does not make your car faster, octane does not make your engine super powered, octane prevents predetonation. Put the fucking correct octane in the vehicle.

- Always replace spark plugs when it is due. The DI cassette can and will shit itself when the plugs misfire a few times.
- Store your spare DIC vertically upright.
- I always use synthetic oil, even in my other shitbox.

you could also flush the engine coolant system and the timing chains need doing around 180k if they've not already been done.

Ya no. Higher octane is used to prevent premature detonation. Also too high an octane can mean no detonation occurs at all.

Always use the octane levels the manual calls for.
