I disagree sort of with Mr. Regular's views on the R8...
The R8 is an "entry-level" supercar that is naturally higher on the secondary toy ladder.
And no, I won't ignore the money, as a used R8 ( used ones have 100k km at most used ) is around 60k euros. If you buy an R8, you are the type of person that worked for your fortune, starting from the bottom. Such a person will rarely buy a new one, especially a low mileage toy.
The R8 is in Porsche 911 teritory, but also in the Mercedes SL, BMW 6 series Gran Coupe, or even the Audi A7.
But why do people buy these cars so frequently, and the R8 is so rare ? The SL can easily be more expensive than the Audi.
Because the R8 is the stealth wealth of the supercar world. You don't give a shit about whatever society thinks, you just want to have a good weekend drive. It doesn't impress anybody as much as a 6 Series Gran Coupe, or an iconic 911. You don't care what others think, you care what you feel about yourself.

The R8 in your 40-50's is the same as that 2 door M3 in your 30's, that Golf V GTI in your late 20's, and that 1.1 hand-me-down Mitsubishi Colt in your early 20's.

Because you worked your way up to success, and your driver's spirit has not faded. You are in your 40's, but it's the same 20's enthusiasm, just that you got more money, and you get bigger toys.
