I'm about to buy a 2016 Mustang EcoBoost premium, what's some fun shit I can do to this car?

Leave it stock so you dont shit up the resale value and upgrade when possible.
>>

>>
>>15528987
The two things I wanted to do was get a new set of wheels and the RTR grille with LED's. Would that fuck resale?
>>
>>15528998
not if you kept the wheels and threw them back on when you sell it.
>>

You'd get more pussy that way.

Buy a used SN95 instead. No need to waste all your money on a new car. I mean you can even get a S197 for sub $10K. Your are going to wreck it anyway.

What the fuck do you think I'm joining the military for? The GI bill can be used to pay off loans or future tuition. I have a college fund with $20k in it so I'm good for community college and $10k into uni and the rest will be paid for by uncle sam.

I also plan on going MBA or law school, so yeah I don't think public school really matters as long as I do well.

>>15529224
And even though I'm paying for the car myself, I'm soiled. My grandparents have a few mil tucked away and are ensuring I don't slave into debt and have college covered. I still wanna work for my car and enlist in the military so they aren't paying for everything but, I'm spoiled.

Sorry my grandparents worked their entire lives and are deciding they want their money to go to me and the family.

Sounds like you all are just mad you still drive the same 96 civic you got in high school.

Now that you've all shown me how angry you are about being poor, can we get back to the discussion.

Ecoboost mustangs, talk about them. It's a new engine for Ford and I've heard the aftermarket is growing rapidly.

>>
>>15529273
How about you kill yourself for being so fucking jealous of someone on 4chan you have to tell them to kill themselves because their family worked hard and saved their money to ensure their future generation can get through college and have a decent life.

I'm gonna be the first to go to college in my family, it's a fucking honor my grandparents loved and cared about me enough to put so much away to make sure I can get an education.

Mind you, they grew up poor, never went to college, and landed low paying jobs. My grandpa got a utility job making a little over $2 an hour after the army and my grandma worked for the state government not getting paid much either. They stayed with their jobs, invested smart, saved smart, got raises, and retired well off.

My grandparents are not buying my car for me, I am buying it. I am paying the insurance.

My grandparents want to pay for my education, but I am set on enlisting in the Air Force so they don't have to, because I'd rather use the GI Bill and serve my country in some form than just take the money.

I will get experience working in the Air Force, I will make friends, I may even travel to cool places. All while continuing the family tradition of military.

How about instead of trying to shit on me for being a little well off in life, you fix your situation and stop being such a little jealous shit?

>>15529296

>blowing entire savings on a car
>managing money
Please tell me you will be commuting at least...
>>
>>15529316
I've got a college fund and some mutual funds with money in it so I'm not gonna have no money set aside for me. While $15k is a big chunk of change (I may even use $20k plus what I can get for my car and some other cash I have and pay it in full), but I'm young enough that I can work for the next few years through college and in the Air Force, put away money, and have what I have now plus.

At this age I look at it this way. I won't need to worry about paying for college, so I should get a decent car I will enjoy. It gets good gas mileage, will have a warranty, and I am young enough that I have the time to make my money back and continue building my wealth.

>>
>>15529313

>W-Why aren't strangers in their 20's and 30's validating my teenage stupidity?

I've seen all types- from the kid that worked 12 hour shifts at minimum wage 5 days a week for 6 months to buy a (at the time) brand new '07 Mustang GT and crushing his entire front end on a bad turn, to a guy whose parents had 'tucked away a few million' so he didn't have to 'wage slave' getting a brand new Cobalt SS only to sell it later when he changed his major for the third time and he was cut off for being too indecisive.

At your age, you think you're right and everyone telling you otherwise is just a hater. Trust me when I say all the negativity on this board in particular comes from a grain of true experience, and that people are trying to tell you things which will end up being to your benefit.

But since you clearly believe that money is no object and you have nothing to worry about financially, unlike 90% of people, go buy whatever you want. Fuck, go to college in a new Porsche 911. No one here really cares. But if you talk stupid and behave stupid be prepared to get called stupid, stupid.

I don't want a Civic or any Asian car, that's fact.

I want a car I will enjoy, and I get not blowing all that money. I will look at other options, but this is my dream car and not too far away in terms of obtainability.

I've thought about Chargers, Wranglers, and older used Mustangs but my biggest thing with a new car is the warranty.

I know exactly what your line of thought is. I have been there: Carefree with fat stacks in the bank and a nice future ahead of you. But things change, and they change very quickly. I will not go over the plethora of awful scenario's that could hit you, but purchasing a brand new vehicle in your name and paying for the insurance etc.. Is simply not logical. Especially if you are planning on, in a few years, going into active military service for a spell. It makes absolutely no sense- it is a money sink, one that you THINK you can afford, and right now technically you can, but it will bite you in the ass in the long run.

There are plenty more ways to enjoy driving, get pussy, and have fun with your car than blowing almost all of your accessible funds on a brand new car. I would give this advice even at 21, 22, 23 years of age.

Furthermore, purchasing a brand new car with the express interest in then doing what will be rather expensive modifications- even if they are cosmetic, is just a horrible idea. Unless you have direct access to your grandparents trust fund to siphon their hard earned cash into your own little pocket-play-wallet, it makes absolutely no sense.

I'm not insulting you for having money, I'm insulting you for wanting a shit car.
Seriously man. GT350. Just be patient.
If you really don't want something Japanese (even though they're objectively better cars) just get a Cruze for now.
>>
>>15529201
Someone who never drives close enough to the car's limits to experience the horror that is understeer

At best owners modify their suspensions to actually prefer oversteer a bit. I'd rather go sideways in my lane than run into oncoming traffic doing a skid, uleh.
>>
>>15529678

My girlfriend has been trying to help me decide on a car, and I am torn between the EcoBoost Mustang or a Wrangler. With a Wrangler, there's a lot I could do with it to modify it without spending any more money. Doors, top, etc. I could take it on the beach, get the joy of a convertible, have towing, extra room in the back (rarely use the back seats so they could fold down like an SUV), etc.

My cousin had an 87' that lasted him 300k miles, and the depreciate very well from what I've seen.

Do you think going with a slightly used JK would be a better option for now?

I get I came off as spoiled, I really was getting annoyed at all the insults and stuff when I was just looking for advice.

The insurance on a Wrangler is way cheaper too.
>>
>>15529698
You're being absurd
>>
>>15529705
Going on this though, my first car was a Mustang and I'd always wish I had gotten one. At the same time, I could likely resell the Jeep with not much of a loss if I change my mind, and in that time frame the current Mustangs will have dropped in price even more if used.
>>
>>15529705
>87' that lasted him 300k
Wranglers don't last that long any more. A TJ might be a good choice, though. Honestly if I were you I'd be looking to spend less than like 7k considering you're enlisting soon and that you're young and should save as much money as you can. It's not worth buying a 20k car yet.
>>
>>15529709
i just dont think its worth it to buy a new car when you're enlisting anon
think about this
when you come back you'll have a ton more money added to what you have now to buy whatever new amazing V8 or v6 ecoboost or whatever the hell mustang is out

Thanks, I appreciate the input. Not sure if I'm a big fan of TJ's, but as I mentioned somewhere earlier I need a Warranty on the car. I don't wanna just buy something used and be on the hook for everything.

>>15529731
Well, being in the military for four years would let me pay it off and keep it or trade it in and get something better.

I wouldn't have too many expenses beside that and insurance anyway. To me, there's no difference on getting a car now and paying it off then or saving a bunch up then buying a car outright. Especially when I can negotiate depreciation off a current 2016 and get 0% APR on payments.

Function over form will always be the right bet. There is absolutely no reason why you cannot find the best of both worlds.

Find a vehicle between 1990-2010, something that doesn't require any work now but you can sense will need some in the future. Use this as a means to learn basic maintaining of your vehicle, spend the money that you would have spent on a brand new vehicle making a slightly used vehicle your own. Personally, as functional as Jeeps are, I can't stand them- but everyone that I know which owns and drives one says they will never go back or purchased a slightly older coupe and drive that for fun- while using the Jeep for practical purposes such as work, camping, etc..

You do you booboo. Just realize that the hate seething out of this board for you and your thread has nothing to do with jealousy. There are plenty of people on this board driving brand new GTR's and Corvette's and BMW M6's and no one has a problem with them when they post their rides. They smell your immaturity like sharks sense blood and they leap on it. It really all depends on what YOU want. If you want respect of automotive enthusiasts, the words 'Built, not bought' will get you there. If you don't give a fuck about what anybody thinks of you, purchase literally any vehicle that personally interests you.

If you want to show up at your university/college car meets or hang out with other enthusiasts, be prepared to be hanging out with the scummy and egotistical pricks in their bought-and-paid-for BRZ's with $20k in mods and custom paint jobs and sit through their droll and superficial conversations that revolve around what objects they own instead of what they think, feel, experienced, etc..

I've been lucky enough to float through all sorts of social circles- from cheap but enthusiastic ricer clubs to muscle car clubs to BMW/Porsche owners. I would pick the ricer enthusiasts over any other group, because by and large they are real genuine people and not superficial.

This, OP said he's going to Iraq, fuck does he need a Mustang for?
>>
>>15529748
I said I'm not

>>15529746
I currently own a 04 Mustang and learned a lot with it, but now need something on the newer side that will last me a while and possibly have a warranty.

I don't care what some internet people think of me at the end of the day. I am working for the car, it is not being bought for me. And so, that's why I feel I should be able to buy what I want.

Ricers annoy the fuck outta me though. The kids around here are literally cancer.

Don't do it, go for an older V6 3.7, 2011 to 2014.
Faster in the straight line but slower at the track cuz >Live rear axle.
They are super cheap though, you can get one for less than 13k in good conditions.
Go for the ones with the performance package since it makes shifting so much better although the ride is stiffer.

has anyone started modifying these yet?

new injectors, turbo, fuel pump, remove the back seat, some new springs and shocks, high performance tires

then remove the factory stuff, sell it on ebay and make some of your money back.

of course it is far from the most fiscally responsible solution, but it would be the most fun

Don't listen to these haters here. Literally a bucket of crabs around here gladly and negatively pulling down someone who was born into a better circumstance. All of us can justify that at some point, some grungy undernourished anon in some shithole around the world is envying our silver spoons.

OP, life is all about making decisions and learning from them and of course enjoying the journey and trying to see the bright side of things if you can. I've met folks like you in my line of work, multi-gen hardworking senpaitachi (I'm in SoCal, so you see lots of great American success stories) who scrape for generations, massing millions for their children and grandchildren. Regardless of how you spend the next 10-15 of your formative young adult years, the only real duty you have to mature to is to continue your family's financial legacy for the next gen.

Dude if you're willing to spend that much, Look for a light mileage 2014 GT. You'll save over 5k for a much funner car.

Go test drive both and you will know What to do.

Plus they 2013/14s body will never go out of style.
