Only thing disappointing about the 426 nowadays is that it's small in displacement, while being huge in packaging. On a modern Hemi block, you can make 530+ cubes (even bigger in the aftermarket), but you can get those original 426 out of a stroker small block. Add really wide heads, and iron blocks, and man those things are huge and heavy.

That mass is the reason why people push ludicrous power figures out of them, though. With beefed up internals, you can easily push over one thousand hours out of a Hemi. Really go balls out and you could have 1600HP like the psychopath down in Australia.

The 426 is insane. Black Magic goes in and out comes world shattering power.

My favorite engine at the moment is whatever I'm driving. I make sure to research whatever I'm going to buy. Right now I've got a gen5 3sge in my altezza, 2l 4pot NA. Does pretty swell, though my Toyota altezza is a bit heavy for it to push around, but no problem beating Hondas on the toeghey. Its got a nice predictable power curve too so it handles like a dream, really nice and easy to slide out with the LSD as well.

Hopefully whatever I get next will be a busso. Been interested in em since I was a kid but its hard to find decent Alfas in new Zealand. Its mostly just jap imports.

Nope. Volvo basically had their straight sixes, chopped off one cilinder to make it fit transversely for FWD, and then asked Porsche to do the top end iirc. Audi was not involved.

And then those mad swedish cunts figured out how to stuff a straight six between the shocks - with two turbos as well.

The Flathead V8 is decent but it didn't age well and unless you plan on dumping tens of thousands of dollars into it it'll always be shit.

The Shotgun motor was cool but the retarded gaping ports made shit for low end flow which is why the 429 could never beat the Hemi. Then it seemed they got stuck on SOHC which everyone knows is literally worse than hitlan.

It's a twenty five year old carbureted engine. Of course you've got to tune it.

It sounds great, noir sure what your issue is though, if you're riding one to work you'll barely pass 8000rpm anyway.
>>
>>15503367
>why that cute little thing is not in cars?
It is though - http://www.autoblog.com/2014/04/10/motus-race-car-replicas-rcr-monoposto-baby-block-kmv4-video/

However, at 1650cc and 180hp, it's not really suited to upgrade power on real car. However, it's a great fit for ATV's quads, etc, which is pretty much it's intended purpose. As a pushrod V4, it's pretty much a tiny compact cube, which makes it perfect for packaging.
>>
>>15503395
Any idea what they cost or of the dimensions?

Curious if one would fit in a project. Not sure I'd use it over another engine I have on mine though, curious however.
>>
>>15503395

They'd leave alot of room for a big turbo.
Sounds perfect for JDM cars.
>>
>>15503367

>>15503395
>However, at 1650cc and 180hp, it's not really suited to upgrade power on real car.
Good thing the cylinders are actually sleeved down to 1650cc.

I'm riding a 31 year old carbureted engine without a tune. I haven't even touched the valves yet.

>>15503401

If you have to ask, you can't afford it. No you can't afford it.
>>
>>15503419
It's really hard to fit a V4 into an I4 engine bay though. Besides, there's plenty of JDM options in the ~2L I4 range that'll produce more power.

Okay. Even considering that's a hypothetical price that's not really that much.

You're not getting a 350 small block to fit into the vehicles these engines are considered for.

The engine I'm looking at currently is $8000-12000 with the transmission and wiring. This engine could quite easily be similar priced, more reliable, and simpler to fix. As stated above though, it doesn't look like it'd fit in my case. Shame.

thats cool as fuck

if i had the money id stick that little cunt in a morris mini with a compound turbocharge boost
>>
>>15503454
Exlcluding ripping it out of a junked GMC and paying a junkyard that thinks it's a 4-banger.

>>15503457
>Even considering that's a hypothetical price
Except it's confirmed.

>You're not getting a 350 small block to fit into the vehicles these engines are considered for.
Fair enough but $-HP ratio is weak for this engine.

>The engine I'm looking at currently is $8000-12000 with the transmission and wiring.
The $10k prices includes a motorbike gearbox. You'll really have to talk to a dealer about a long block.
>>
>>15503472
>Fair enough but $-HP ratio is weak for this engine.
That tends to happen with small engines. On the plus size, pakcaging is good, which means it'll fit in places a SBV8 won't.
>>
>>15503472
Wrote up before I saw confirmed price. If you read further down that's without the gearbox.

I probably won't look much further unless I don't need to rotate it. Might have a look into the other configurations they have but I'll probably just stick with the 1.3 I4 instead.
>>
>>15503481
I kinda want to buy one just to sit on my table tbhfam, it's an attractive engine for sure.

>>15503483
>If you read further down that's without the gearbox.
My bad.

What exactly are you working on that this engine won't fit? Just curious.
>>
>>15503489
>I kinda want to buy one just to sit on my table tbhfam, it's an attractive engine for sure.
For 10K, you can probably find an old SBC and dress it up nicely.
>>
>>15503495
Yes but then the SBC becomes a table and i have no room for that kind of table.

>oh anon, what a nice selection of coffee table engines you have
>>
>>15503489
Swapped Kei car.

First generation Hayabusa engine rotated, and using the motorcycle box with a power shifter or an SMG-type is seemingly the "easy" way.

Not really posting much about it on /o/ until I have the car to pull apart. It's still on the design stage at the moment but most of the mock-ups and what-will-break-instantly-from-power stuff has been addressed.

In no rush really. A ways of racing it anyway.
>>
>>15503530
Damn brohymen that sounds like a headache.
>>
>>15502770
The 140hp tdi was from audi
>>
>>15503530
yeah, you won't be able to fit a Motus on there. You can probably still activate the motorcycle gearbox with a cable, which is what most motorcycle gokarts do iirc.
>>
>>15503534
The call of 350-380hp and 1500lbs is too strong.

>>15503543
That's the plan. Most people go to Translogic shifters and paddles. I want a shifter. May fit Translogic for clutches ups though.

Always loved Honda NR750.I always thought it was a a great laugh that Honda basically designed a 4 stroke V8 to compete with 2 stroke Grand Prix engines. All just to prove that they can. And then after spending all their time and money on it, went back to 2 strokes
>>
>>15503555
Someone test rode an NR750 near here when they were pretty new. Hit an echidna and it splintered through the bike.

It's only a V4 by the way. 8 valve per cylinder though. Very cool stuff.

Dear christ that sounds horrifiying

Pics? Details?
>>
>>15503561
Yea I know it as v4, but it has 32 valves, and 8 connecting rods. It s a V8 made into a V4 because of the rules of the time

rip japan.

its fucking weird when we have to look at america for whacky automotive weirdness and innovation these days as europe is bland as fuck apart from the hypercars.
>>
>>15503571
Can't find the site. Very 90s style blog. Essentially he settled a bike sale with the condition he could have a supervised ride on the NR.

Supervising rider got caught by lights and he blasted off. Hit an echidna and it basically splintered through one sides fairings and a few other bits.
>>
>>15503589
That ended up being on expensive echidna.
