So /o/, I misshifted into 2nd when I meant to shift into 4th, and I over-revved the engine, now the car has low + rough idle. How fucked am I? Did I cause permanent damage? What are my options?

bent valves. pull the head and replace whats broke

This is the 6th thread where someone has done the exact same thing, I'm seeing a pattern here. Your car wouldn't exactly let you "just" shift into 2nd, at least without your clutch screaming at you.
I think that you should look at your tranny if this really happened, and then your engine, and then yourself.

i downshifted once from 3rd into first when i was learning to drive.
nothing happened but the person behind me got mad

Its easy to do in a honda. seen it a million times, kid rips it back into second from third and smashes all the valves.

how the hell? I accidentally did that in my Nissan and my clutch just yelled at me.
Be careful, honda guys are gonna come into this thread and start posting track times and protecting their cars.

I dunno, b series and d series transmissions at least are pretty easy to pull back into a lower gear even at high rpm, and if your're trying to race and make a quick shift, you're not really waiting for the shifter to drop in, you're just gonna pull it in hard.

I have only driven a manual civic one when I was learning manual, but I never felt like I could shift it into 2nd from 3rd.
I guess it could just be the transmission of a 15-20 y/o shitbox.

I think these neanderthals just change gear by stomping on the clutch, throwing the gear stick roughly in the direction of the right gear, then just removing their foot instantly while getting back on the gas.
