Check USAA. I believe they only will insure those who are military/military family.

I bought a 74 Corvette in high school and it was 18 a month for an 17/18 year old kid. They didn't even want to know the model of car, all they knew was that it was a '74 2 door Chevy. Could have been a pickup for all they cared.

I own a 1992 Ford Escort Lx two door hatch. It's my first car and it only costs $65 maple bucks to insure a month for full coverage. Great gas milage too, but the 1.9 ohv I4 is lack luster and the three speed auto really hampers it. If you can get a gt 5 speed you get a usable powerband due to proper gearing and a 108 HP mazda 1.8 I4. They are so raw and mechanical, yet cheap and easy to work on and cheap to get parts for too.
