in all seriousness (and depending on how mechanically proficient you are) taken on someones failed abortion of a project for cheap as chips. join owners pages for cars your interested in on normie book because they usually sell for less than book prices there and youre much more likely to find cars where all the problems are identified and prepared to be fixed, cars that have been babied and are in mint condition and cars that are rare pepe special editions and other dumb shit. out of sheer interest i joined a honda civic buy sell and nearly bought a b16 swapped EJ9 for £700 until i came to my senses and realised i had nowhere to keep the damn thing (plus it likely was rusty and lets be honest they all just drink oil).

another piece of advice is get quotes from places like adrian flux and sky insurance if you pick up a decently modified car (coilovers, aesthetic mods, hell even an engine swap). the rates for those can be amazingly lower than unmodified regular policies from more traditional big cat companies.
the idea obviously being modified car = owner who knows/cares about what he's got. being part of an official owners club recognized by the insurer helps too
