Just replaced my spark plugs on my '93 miata. Has 177k miles. Three of the four plugs were wet with oil. I thought it might be the head gasket but the engine is running fine and it's not producing any odd colored or smelling smoke. I'm going to get a compression test on Thursday. If it isn't the head gasket, what else could it be? And how serious is it?

Has /mtg/ ever replaced their clutch? Mine started slipping when I bought it and has only been getting worse, and it's about time I replaced it. I have tools and a budget to buy what I'm missing, but most of my wrenching experience is on industrial machines not cars. Before I dive into this, I was wondering if anyone had any advice.

On a similar note, has anyone rebuilt their shifter or installed a short shifter? I would like a tighter shift feel.

Finally someone that agrees that they look like shit. I hate those Pit Crew Racing front ends so much - it might've looked OK if it didn't droop so low and look like a Cobra with Down Syndrome. The most annoying part being when they keep the stock hood, so there's the lines from where the pop-up lights were - looks so fucking off. That green one is probably the nicest I've seen but I do think it would just be better to stay stock.

I've seen some of the before/after videos of people replacing the shifter bushing, mine isn't as bad as some but could use some love for sure.

I'm just more conscious of the shifter feel after driving my friend's BMW, which felt like trying to shift with a pool noodle in a bowl of jello. The cobalt short shifter comes with all the replaceable bits, so I'll probably pop that in when I do my clutch.

That metal cover just shields the CAS from radiant heat from the header. All that head can damage the CAS

The coil pack is mounted to the valve cover, so yes you need to unbolt it from the vc. Make sure you take a picture of the spark plug wires or label them or something. You can probably leave the coil pack connectors plugged in, too

When I got my NA6 the owner had been using pic related in 10W-30 form

90k miles with a very very teeny oil leak (a few drops a month)

No ticking or anything, seemed to run really well until I wrecked it in 2000 miles, got a few cold days and it seemed ok

then again I'm a mile above sea level i have no idea if that makes any difference

supertech full syn is synthetic, there are multiple types of synthetic oil.
Rotella has been proven to be an excellent full syn oil, look up tests on bob is the oil guy.
I use it in all my motorcycles.
