Shopping for my first car on craigslist, I'm highly considering a van, as I can always sleep fairly comfortably in it if needed, and my job would benefit from the storage space. Plus I can always trick out the inside with something anyways or potentially move into it.
Any particular models to look for? Or something else? Probably looking at under $2,000
Good or bad idea to buy the cheapest hunk of shit I find to get drive time under my belt? I suppose cheap hunks of shit are safety hazards potentially though.
Although vans do have terrible mile per gallon in general right?
This one doesn't look horrible, but it is fairly old
Wait hang on I think I've found my winner, this one comes with a TV and a solar panel

>Sleep in it or move in to it
Are you planning on being homeless?
>>15355997
Not really no, but back up plans are nice, also saves me a hotel room should I travel

it even has a shitter! if that bad boy checks out mechanically you should go for it. Also I've read some horror stories about being unable to get the smog certification so do some research on that.

I think the last time my dad or uncle, can't remember which had an issue, they sprayed something somewhere, had em drive it for 2 weeks and come back to pass the test

This is true. I say go for it anon

no clue how long before I actually buy something like this, I'm highly indecisive, and have horrible luck, so as soon as I buy a car I know it'll have a massive failure in a week.
But otherwise, just gotta do research more naturally, just feeling things out for now, but I think a van is probably decided
the one with the toilet looks somewhat promising
hijacking this thread, apologies
I'm also looking at getting a van, what do I need to look out for? lots of vans have high mileage, and lots of minor cosmetic/interior problems

I love how rapey this looks.
>>15357539
I wish I could find a windowless van

If you have a welder you can spot weld some panels on pretty easy.

This is such an awesome deal that you can probably bet they've tried and failed to get it to pass emissions. With the high mileage there's probably a plenum problem or something like that. Find out where you can bribe them to pass you or register it in a neighboring state. It's so comfy, I bet a friend of yours would let you park it in his driveway long enough to establish fake-ass residency. Fun fraud road trip!

Don't have one, but that is an option I suppose, or I can just cover up the back windows
>>15358715
There is this stuff called window tint
>>15358755
I was thinking more just duct tape a sheet up
>>15355901
Rapey as fuck you'll look homeless and sketchy

Have a tech give it a going over, if it's not terminally fucked go for it, if it doent have curtains for privacy they're easy to make, just need fabric, a string, and a glue gun. theres a Good chance the electronics are fucked given the TV plus the electronic fold down bed.
