Hey /o/, don't come here too much anymore but in need of some advice. My ignition switch on my bike is fucked, I can't turn it off, I can kill the engine but not cut off any electrical. The closest thing to that is leaving my bike with the parking lights on. Any time I turn the key to the OFF position, it spins right past it and the whole cylinder rotates.
Anyone else had this problem? Is it just the ignition switch?

I'm trying to understand some stuff while I wait on paperwork to go through so I can finally ride the goddamn bike I paid for and is now waiting in front of the house.

a: on a bike you do steer with the handlebars - as long as you're slow enough. Example: cone course at license exam, first gear.
b: at higher speeds, you steer to some degree by leaning, but only after the turn is initiated by countersteering
c: countersteering in everyday life outside the track is a subtle and short process, where you do the namesake action (pressing the handlebar in the counterintuitive direction) only very briefly, before returning the handlebars to neutral direction or direction of the turn, at which point it's the leaning that directs the motorcycle in the desired direction.

Been riding a 2001 SV650 for the past 3 years, and want to get into a sport bike. Rode a 2010 GSX-R 600, and it was ultra-uncomfortable. Hip flexors cramped up 1 block down the road. Rode an R6 and found that much more comfortable.

I've also been watching videos regarding the S1000RR, and I think I'm in love. Would like to ride one. Talk me out of it, or talk me into it.

back off throttle a tiny bit as you pull in clutch
gear shifter will slide up
let clutch back out when it's in gear
it's even possible without the clutch, it's all about taking the load off the dog gear teeth so they can slide out of mesh

down shifting
you are decelerating and the engine is being driven
preload the shifter LIGHTLY******
clutch in and time perfectly click the gear shifter down as you blip the throttle up to the right rpm
let clutch out

in upshift backing off the throttle and/or clutch in takes the load off the dog teeth so they aren't meshed so tightly.

That should be absolutely no problem in the dry even to ride over on the edge of the tire, knee down.

In the wet if it scares you just tale the left lane if you can, and ride a line through it that has you as upright as possible.

As long as you're not accelerating or braking or rough steering input the bike might squirm for a second (like riding over wet tar snakes) but will still handle the road.
