All cantturn memes aside, what's a circa-2000 Mustang GT like as a fun/project car? I see them for sale cheap all the time, and this one's practically next door.

So it was either in a wreck of he cheaped out when replacing the fogged over stock lamps.

Yeah, that particular one I'm suspicious of. The seller is at an auto body shop.

But more in general, what're these things like? I hear about plug blowout all the time.

Get a Foxbody. lot easier to work on and there are several aftermarket company's that reproduce everything from original Ford tooling.
(and in my opinion a Windsor is much better then a Modular)

Foxes are too expensive for what they are. They've started getting collector/enthusiast pricing. You can almost get a 2005 GT for what a clean late foxbody goes for.

:/

That's mostly on Lightnings, I've never heard of it being a problem on the 2V 4.6L.

Also, if it's a body shop I'd almost guarantee that it's been in a front end collision. Look for telltale signs of repairwork.

Get subframe connectors and upgrade to 5lug equipment from a SN-95 and they're basically on par, only the 5.0L has more NA potential than the Modular.

I owned a 2002 GT, 5 speed with 120k miles. Yes, the plugs will blow out all, and it's at minimum $50 to buy the helicoil repair set or $400 to have time serts put in. They're fun, decently quick. I had more in it then my 88 Mustang GT. But muh 4th gen dirty bird reigns over all. Obviously nobody else in this thread has ever touched one, LS did away with optispark. Not hard to work on at all once you get the hang of it. But I will say I miss my fox more then my 02.

Even a 2011 V6 or a4cyl ecoboost are a better option.

OP go for a 2005-2010 V8, far better car with tons of mods.

You do realize how stupid fast these are, and how much faster they can be made, right?

Try again

Ya stop it dude please stop comparing the two. Fake awd never beats rwd.
>>
>>15325488
They are ok fast, little bit slower than a 2011 v6.
Sure they can be made fast with mods but then again, a V6 Mustang can also be made fast with mods and it's cheaper.

I've hot rodded the hell out of my gt and it never blew a plug, or failed at all. I did change them once as maintenance once though, and did my coilpacks. I used the proper grease on the threads and torqued em right.

Its almost at 200k miles, and ive had it since like 110k.

They're a good car for cheap. You're looking at about 4-6 grand for a car that'll do 255WHP with exhaust, intake, tune. It makes that power early in the powerband as well, and they weigh in stock at 3280 or so.

To get a fox to 255whp, it takes the same mods and a cam. Since their prices went up so drastically the past few years, its not as much of a good value. As others have said, decent ones go for like 7 grand.

Can't turn meme? You can beat any moron who says that in a road race with good tires. Plus you could totally revamp the suspension for cheap, and have it out doing any factory or new stock car.

Plus, fox blocks give out at 450 motor horse. GT block will hold twice that, so will the crank. I mean, I love the fox and SBFs, but the market as determined that they aren't as much of a good deal as they were 8-10 years ago. 2v price has leveled out a bit as well, especially for decent ones, so itll be a good investment,
