Welp, I sent my paperwork across the country for the bike to finally be legally transferred to my name. No riding until then. Bad omen in captcha at that.

What do you do if you're entering corner and you are already seeing yourself going a little wide (into the oncoming traffic lane)? Lean harder + constant roll on throttle?

>>15311495

I'm at the bike, I removed the stator cover for inspection. The pickup coil reads 104ohms and the manual calls for 80-120 to be in spec so I guess it's good.

However the mechanic who replaced the pickup coil must have not sealed it well enough because moisture got in and now there is a lot of surface rust throughout. Will rust on the magneto/flywheel create a no start issue, in theory the pickup not having a clean surface to work with?

Advice?

Just wondering, I only dirtbike (and not even much of that) and was at least decent except for hitting a blind mud puddle and breaking my arm. Anyway I'm thinking of buying an actual bike in a few years but I'm worried about killing myself; at an intermediate level, is riding a dirt or street bike "harder"?

dirt is harder as in it takes more skill.

Road riding is super easy in comparison. The difference is on the road you also have to deal with hundreds of other drivers in very big vehicles who are fully unaware of your existence.

That plus a crash in itself likely being more catastrophic, even with gear is why I'm worried. Thing is in those few years I'm moving and if there are a lot of intersections where I'm moving to I'm likely dropping the idea entirely. Why can't I be the only one allowed on the road

So i need some help, I just got back from my local motorcycle dealership and sat on the 2016 FZ-07 And i loved it but its a 700cc and my only experience is with a cheap tao tao 50cc scooter i got a few years back, should i get it or no because im afraid of dropping it after paying $6k for it brand new. Im 6 foot 1 inch and around 250lbs
>>
>>15313408
Dirt is technically harder, imo. Street has it's challenges, though. Being blown around on the highway from a crosswind or from trucks, grooved pavement making your tire squirrely, watching for traffic, people trying to run you off the road, ect.

I believe you are more likely to be injured riding off road but more likely to actually die on the street.

It''s really not THAT dangerous though. Most accidents are avoidable and the lethal ones you can't do anything to prevent are fairly rare. (left-hand turning cars, red-light runners, rear-ended at an intersection, ect.

Most common motorcycle fatalities are drunks going wide in a turn.

I saw spark on the 1st cylinder by putting a screwdriver in the plug boot and holding it near the frame, but I think it looked weak. But it was there. I don't have an extra plug laying around. Should I pull the plug out of cylinder 1 and try that? Or is it dangerous to crank with no plug in the hole?

Figured as much, still kind of unnerving knowing the slightest fuckup from any party could be really fucking bad. Rode a dirt bike around 45-50 on public streets with no gear but a helmet before (long story) and jesus christ, nobody pays any attention.

Hallo peeps.

I'm coming up on buying a new bike and I can't move up the the A2 license yet so I'm stuck with a 125.

Should I buy a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke?
I'm tempted to get a KMX or DT just because they seem more fun and they're faster, I'll be doing a lot of trails but there's the possibility of some distance travel and I'm not sure about taking a 2 stroke very far. Both my friends I'll be going around with have 4 strokes, one has an XL125 and the other has a KTM Duke.
My 4 stroke options are pretty much a DR, XL or XT.

It's risky so wear a helmet.

It's part of the fun of riding on the street, preparing for the worse, using your skill, observing your enviroment, trying not to die.

If you want to hedge your bets, stick to the side streets, stay off multilane highways, ride a dual sport so your suspension can take evasion action over a curb. Wear safety gear, wear a high-viz helmet.

Keep in mind there are many, many people who spend their whole lives riding around drunk or high on their Harleys or taking long trips through 3rd world countries on dubious 650 thumper motorcycles and live to be old ass men. It's somewhat more risky than driving a car but it's worth the risk because it's infinitely more fun and it's good for the male psyche to take risks.

Oh right, I'd definitely go full gear. Every time I see someone in a T-shirt, jeans and no helmet on a highway I just want to ask them what the fuck they're doing.

Anyway I legitimately appreciate the spoonfeeding, it does seem to be a bit less dangerous than I've been making it out to be. All I'm hoping is if I crash badly it just kills me rather than making me a paraplegic.

small sherco dealer is actually just next town, and parts are not that big problem here. Also you can fit quite alot of stuff from different bikes on it anyway.
Still never see any shercos though, hopefully they will get more attention as their current lineup is solid as fuck

Picked up this bad boy from my dad's place today. Helstons Corse Italia, current new price £400 at the one place I can find that stocks it, got it used (for 1 season) for 150 Swiss francs. The leather is in perfect condition and it JUST fits me. Full set of protectors too, great deal.

Wobei ne große Sportler bei langen Touren auch ziemlich anstrengend ist. Du kommst natürlich schneller an wenn du bei 48ps schon 220 Sachen bretterst aber bequem ist das ganze auf Dauer nicht.

I bought a brand new SV650, dropped on the second day and slightly crashed it yesterday.

Hey, I'm 6'1" and around 250lbs and i went to a dealership today and sat on the 2016 FZ-07 well lets just say im in love with it but the only problem is, I dont have any experience with bikes that have a clutch (only motorcycle ive ever owned is a tao tao 50cc scooter). Do you think the FZ-07 would be a good starter bike for me? Thanks everyone for the help, Peace

Riding with the new tire on the bike is easy. But they charge you $75 for a single tire replacement? That's fucking robbery dude.

Fair play to the guy though. He's already paid for the damage in full. And seeing as my stock exhaust costs as much as an akraprovic I've just got an akraprovic for free out of it.

Suzuki SV 650 AL7.

"People like you" meaning people who have no experience with manual driving/riding.
Basically, if you are letting the clutch go a bit too fast and are about to stall, the bike adds 200 revs to keep you chugging along.
Or is that not what you implied?
>>
>>15314431
Doesn't seem that bad. They charge you 40 for just putting the new tire on the rim. They have to take the wheel off my bike, take the old tire off, put the new one on, balance it, then put it back on the bike. Plus this is in monopoly money.

When I looked it up, people were saying $85 per tire.

How do I prepare for a flat tire on motorcycle?

My bike uses innertubes and I have no idea how to deal with a flat on one of those. Tubeless tires are easy to fix but what about tubes?

>>
>>15314469
you're talking about engine life, not actual reliability
an engine can have other problems than just breaking down because it's at the end of its life
>>
>>15314480
What the fuck. Even at the shops here, it's $45 tops per tire. And I could just go to my friend and have him put it on for about $25 a tire.
>>
>>15314502
Spare tunes are cheap. A set of tire spoons (and appropriate wrenches if your spoons aren't built to include wrench ends for your axles) and a little battery-operated compressor would be fine to carry if you're that worried about it.
>>
>>15314489
it's basically the perfect beginner bike.
do be aware though if you buy new that you have to break in the engine and the tires first.

Which can also be a good thing because it forces you to not drive like a madman right off the bat.

Wait yeah my axle wrench is also a spoon now that I think about it, I also have 2 other axle wrenches for some yamaha the PO left on my bike's tool kit. Okay I'll order some tubes thanks.
>>
>>15314557
>screwdriver
Dear God fuck no. Also, a light soap solution (or silicone butt lube if that's your thing) and a 2nd spoon helps. There's a technique to getting the bead broken and reset. Plenty of YT guides. Some tires have stupid stiff sidewalls, others are reasonably pliable, but >>15314544
said it best. Get some practice.

not really

in theory first gear has the most "resistance" in you need the most power to turn the engine over = most braking power so it would make sense to leave it in first

Yeah get your wires sorted out. I had to do a lot of custom wiring on one of my bikes and my first attempt was pitiful. Connections kept breaking or coming loose, and there was a big cluster behind the headlight and under the tank. Now I redid it to have a tight little bundle with proper connectors.

Why are Harleys so popular? I don't understand the purpose of them, they're heavy, underwhelmingly slow and always 3-5 inches of ground clearance. You cannot even stand up on the pegs.

It's like the same performance as a fucking economy car, similar price point too, whats the fucking point of these and why are half the people on the road riding one?

All motorcycle parts/ accessories are expensive. They are all 'high performance' compared to parts for your Toyota Camry and not built for economy.

Also, main reason is that motorcycles are maybe 3% of the passenger miles in the USA. Economy of scale, motorcycle shit is not made or sold in the same volume so it's spendy.

But yeah, Kawasaki charges a bit more, but they're OEM is slightly betterer too most of the time. Look for aftermarket shit if you ride a green machine, it's moderately cheaper and abundant onlinet.
>>

I'm picturing 62 year old retired accountants in hi-viz jumpsuits buying German-branded, Hayabusa substitutes made in Thailand.
