Have fun with your shit blowing up if you drive regularly with anything over a 9k redline when at stock.

4AGE's without mods can't take as much as you'd think. You CAN get to 10k safely with quite a bit of mods, but there's a reason why people limit 4AGE's to 9.5: longevity.

If you want a Dagumi :DDD engine, you need a purpose built, custom piece with all the mods on it. Even then the Initial D engine probably needs a rebuild every second race.

There are cars that go 200+mph on powerglides regularly and I'd bet salt flats guys go even faster with them. It's a 2spd.
>>
So when I shift gears, say from second to third, is it normal to feel a little whirring vibration from the clutch pedal as I depress it and press the accelerator at the same time? That seems to give me the smoothest shift.

Also, it's taking me far too long to get from stop to first gear. Giving it around 2000rpm and slowly letting the clutch go as it starts to bite is the right way correct?

And lastly if I'm braking is it okay to brake in say 5th gear to a stop without stalling? All I've been doing is shifting to neutral and coasting to a stop but I know that's not right.

>So when I shift gears, say from second to third, is it normal to feel a little whirring vibration from the clutch pedal as I depress it and press the accelerator at the same time? That seems to give me the smoothest shift.
Dunno what you mean, could be car specific.

>Also, it's taking me far too long to get from stop to first gear. Giving it around 2000rpm and slowly letting the clutch go as it starts to bite is the right way correct?
Learn the balance between right amount of clutch and gas without looking at RPM too much. Try taking off aggressively, experiment with the whole take-off progress until you're confident you won't hold traffic.

>And lastly if I'm braking is it okay to brake in say 5th gear to a stop without stalling? All I've been doing is shifting to neutral and coasting to a stop but I know that's not right.
Shift down gear to gear (skipping a gear is okay too, if you can rev-match precisely or use your brakes more). This way you use the engine to break, which saves gas and your brakes. Learn to rev-match for smooth slowdown, which you already seem to have some handle on if we go by your first point.
>>
>>15267910
That's not a manual you retard
>>
>>15268565
>Dunno what you mean, could be car specific.
It's a little feedback from the pedal. It feels like something is transferring a rotating motion, like the clutch against a surface.
>Learn the balance between right amount of clutch and gas without looking at RPM too much. Try taking off aggressively, experiment with the whole take-off progress until you're confident you won't hold traffic.
Yea that's something I'm still working on. I tend to depress the clutch too fast and jerkily take off so I've been going slower.
>Shift down gear to gear (skipping a gear is okay too, if you can rev-match precisely or use your brakes more). This way you use the engine to break, which saves gas and your brakes. Learn to rev-match for smooth slowdown, which you already seem to have some handle on if we go by your first point.
So when the RPMs drop to like 1500 or the engine sounds very dull that's when to downshift, right? Do you give it any gas like when you upshift? And you can downshift while braking without damage to the clutch, right?
>>
>>15268481
He's right for the wrong reason, it's not a manual because there's no USER OPERATED clutch. Autocucks will grasp at straws all day to pretend they don't drive an automatic but at the end of the day there's no middle ground.
>>
>>15268601
>It's a little feedback from the pedal. It feels like something is transferring a rotating motion, like the clutch against a surface.
I still dunno, but unless it's absolutely jarring and annoying, I don't think anything is wrong. Some one else might give a more educated opinion.

>So when the RPMs drop to like 1500 or the engine sounds very dull that's when to downshift, right? Do you give it any gas like when you upshift?
Pardon me for using km/h, since I don't know if you use miles, but it's basically like this:
>your speed is 80km/h, 5th gear, 2000rpm
>press clutch in, select 4th, press ("blip") throttle to get rpm up, it has to be more than 2000. Aim for 3000-3500? You have to experiment to give the right amount of gas.
>let clutch go, congrats that shift might have been smooth
>repeat until 2nd gear and full stop
If you have enough distance, you might not need brakes until the full stop.
I think my shift timing out by speed, not rpm, but I'd say that 1500 is okay downshift point, if you aren't confident in your rev-matching yet.

>And you can downshift while braking without damage to the clutch, right?
I'm not actually sure. I'd say don't press brake when you let the clutch up. When clutch is fully up or down, you may use the brakes, but don't do it when letting go. Of course you can press them down simultaneously (like emergency braking), or press clutch in when already braking and rpm is dropping low.

My brain is full of fuck while writing this. Main point: practice and patience are your friends.
>>
>>15268967
>I still dunno, but unless it's absolutely jarring and annoying, I don't think anything is wrong. Some one else might give a more educated opinion.

This is what I was looking for. Has to be above 2000rpm. Thanks.

Yea. The first thing I noticed in manual is how much looking ahead you have to do. It really hammers in cautious driving.

Right, if it's a panic break clutch has to be in to shift to neutral but otherwise it's like you told me afaik.
>My brain is full of fuck while writing this. Main point: practice and patience are your friends.
It made sense so your fuckful thoughts worked, thanks a lot. And yes, I aim to drive every day for hours to practice until I'm confident.

Still have to work on hillstarts...using the parking brake method so far.
>>
>>15269134
>It made sense so your fuckful thoughts worked, thanks a lot.
No prob.

For hill start getting the clutch's bite point helps you enough that you won't need hand brake for it, unless the hill's real fucking steep (I haven't encountered hills where bite point won't suffice, but it's almost all flat land here). You'll get the bite point when you practice normal take-offs. Then just switch fast from brake to gas.
>>

Ah okay, so like a heel toe but without the heeling and toeing.
