Riding a Harley-clone is just the worst.

I like dogs, but when I'm out riding, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I swear every time I go for a ride, some cunt's dog(s) run out after me or follow me to a stop sign and just bark at me.

I've already wrecked one time because of those little shits.

I got a massive DUI about four years ago. I say massive because of the circumstances surrounding it I got marked as an immediate threat indefinitely (this is a real thing in Massachusetts) which literally took two years to reverse/clear up and ONLY THEN could I actually start to do the DUI courses/mandatory aa/other typical DUI conviction or CWOF shit.

and while I can find car insurance, I literally can't find a single person to quote me for motorcycle insurance. It's instant denial across the board.

what the hell do I do?

Why don't the Japanese actually try and make cruiser-style bikes with their own distinctive styling instead of shamelessly ripping off Harley?

Victory makes disctinctive cruiser bikes. Indian makes distinctive cruiser bikes, albeit ones that haven't evolved much beyond the 1930s. Moto Guzzi makes distinctive cruiser bikes.

Why do the Japanese just try to make the cheapest rip-off of the Harley style they can?

For example, do something with that fucking radiator. Either go air-cooled or style around the radiator. Have some fucking pride, Japs.

Angry, hardly. Dismayed is more like it.

I am as bored with the Harley style as anyone, and I ride one. I'd like to see Harley and the cruiser style actually evolve, but Harley has no need to evolve and Polaris is just one company, who are probably going to kill of Victory in a few years anyway.

The Japanese could probably put out something cool if they wanted, like the Yamaha V-Max, but instead pander to the "Can't afford a Harley demographic."

Never ridden an F800R. The 800GS is great for daily commute and trail riding, decent on the highway, would not recommend for extended travel if you have an alternative. Also definitely want to be at least 6'. Ah but you're probably just asking how the 800R rides, can't help you with that lol. Here, have the iconic Paul Masson.

They all checked with each other and agreed it was neither a 60's cafe racer they could claim to have restored, nor an old Harley they could claim to have restored.

Harley's worst enemy is its fucking customers. I went to a dealership this afternoon to order a set of replacement keys for mine, and the level of posing was beyond cringe.

"Born to be Wild" was blaring on the store's stereo system. Guys who spend the workweek thinking about their 401k's standing around trying to convince each other that they were just paroled or something.

I love that Indian doesn't have an "image" yet, aside from a slightly fedora thing they got going?

"Harley? No, sorry. I ride a bike from a little company called Indian. It's pretty underground, I wouldn't blame you if you've never heard of it."

Somewhat frequently. It's doable, albeit uncomfortable on sportier bikes like yours.

I've been wanting a R3 for a while but I can't justify one right now with already two other bikes. Don't let the "bigger is better" and "you'll get bored with it" talks get the best of you, you can do track days or mountain runs on a bike like yours over and over for a couple of years and still learn something new about riding every time.

If he worked at a company where he had some design control but also some actual oversight, he would make godbikes.

Dead /d[iary]bt/:

Today I changed my baiku's brakes. Had some cheap pads on a whim ($16 took care of both front and rear instead of the $30+ per disc I was facing otherwise) figuring if they were shit I'd eat the cost for the gamble but if they were even barely-acceptable-tier I'd get by at a good price. Tested them out and I suppose I at least didn't fuck up the installation since everything worked, no dragging, no unusual sounds, behaved like my old worn brakes but better since these aren't worn down to the wear indicators. Fronts are nice and responsive and the rear actually exists now. Time will tell how they handle in the rain and how quickly they'll wear out but the first impression is good; perhaps by happy coincidence I did this with the odometer at exactly 25,000 miles so it'll be easy to track.

With the redesigned motor I promise you it's there for a reason. The engineers went in to extreme depth about it with us. They know it's not great looking and admit it which is why they have the secondary eliminator kit coming out for it for "race use only" very soon. The whole exhaust system is actually on the underside of th bike much like the ninja 650. The pipe you're talking about is literally only there for emissions and noise control.

My first bike was a 1972 Honda sl125 that was a complete pos that I bought after it had been sitting in a barn/garage for over 36 years. It didn't idle, didn't go faster than 60, leaked a tiny bit of idle, the float somehow got full of gas and I had to hotwire it to keep it going at some point.

Eventually I sold it and bought a cx500 after a month of blissful misery

Atleast your 300 DOES wheelie. Pulling as hard as I can, dropping the clutch at WOT at redline lifts the front about 1' off the ground on mine. The MV powerwheelies in 1st though which is very nice.

I guarantee I would have your MV up pointing at saturn in two minutes.

no bike "just wheelies" without effort, it's like a puzzle but once you figure out where the pieces go it'll all make sense, it requires practice and patience but so does getting good at anything to do with riding. It's hard, but if it wasn't hard it wouldn't be cool.
>>
>>15158168
Truth be told, I don't know if mine will. I've managed a burnout, but that's not saying much. I feel I'ma have to do some serious work with the second gear to get a wheelie going on. After I break in these new tires maybe I'll finally decide to give it a try.

>>15158248
Wouldn't a bumpy street be the best place to notice a reduction in unsprung weight? It should make the wheels keep traction more consistently.
>>
>>15158248
Depends how fast you ride on the street.
>>
>>15158254
Less weight in your wheels can actually be bad on bumpy roads, remember that is putting the centre of balance up higher on your bike and it is also reducing the amount of centrifugal force produced.

So am I fucked? Can I tell them to take the bike back? I think I would be okay with the aftermarket instrument panel as long as they can prove the odometer.

Should make direction changes easier. This is a good thing.

This can be remedied a bit by body position.

I'd think the traction gains from more wheel contact would easily outweigh those points.

The safety reason is a good argument for it but I'd be lying if i said I did it for any other reason than it's fun and I go faster because of it.

>>15158265
no this is really stupid, all conventional logic says less unsprung weight will allow the suspension to react quicker and upset the bike less.

There's a video of some black guy interviewing erik buell and he reckons the places EBR's benefit the best from the ZTL brake and super light wheels is bumpy tracks. ie. non motoGP spec tracks.
