Police auctions. They're the same thing and honestly wouldn't spend more than 3 grand for a crown vic. Buy one, experience it because no other car is similar and move on once it finally dies. Under 2003 should be the cheaper ones but there was huge improvements in 2003

Basically these.
You want to get one after '05 preferably. I forget all of the improvements that came in that year but the most noticeable one is that you actually have a tach in the dash.
>>
>>15085338
you don't need a tach in a car that isn't meant to go fast, and isn't a manual. i admit it's kinda nice, but nowhere near necessary on a car like that.

You're just passing them at high speeds

CV's still have more torque, just as if not more reliable, bigger space and capacities, proper wheel drive.

Took mine to the drags. Would've been into the 15's and it's stock.
>>
>>15088099

> CV's still have more torque

Not really.

> proper wheel drive.

Both are rear-wheel drive so that's meaningless as well.
>>
>>15087872
>Toyota reliability
Don't these have a timing belt + interference engine?
>>
>>15084402

I've noticed you gentlemen talk about body on frame vs. unibody quite often. What are the advantages to body on frame?
>>
>>15088173
body on frame is easier to fix, easier to beef up, and handles more driver stupidity in general
unibody is more rigid usually, and lighter
>>
>>15088099
>beaten on and do just fine
So you're saying you prefer a car with 150k miles over a car with 60k miles never revved about 2500 RPM?.

P71Fags are truly delusional.
>>
>>15088112
http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/track-tests/track-tested-2010-dodge-challenger-se-35-v6.html

305hp V6 with a 5 speed auto going just as fast as a 250hp V8 with a 4 speed auto. And it was brand new at time of testing unlike my nearly decade old police engine.

>>15088186
you're talking vast price differences. And low rpms create deposit problems wich is why some criticize police cars because all they do is idle all say long.
>>
>>15084402
auto only
>>
>>15084402
>autotragic only
A 5 or 6 speed panther would be fun as fuck, too bad it never existed.
>>
>>15088214

> 305hp V6 with a 5 speed auto going just as fast as a 250hp V8 with a 4 speed auto. And it was brand new at time of testing unlike my nearly decade old police engine.

Not sure what you're looking at there. The article is talking about the 2011 Challenger SE which has the 305HP 3.6L V6, but the chart below is showing information for the 250HP 3.5L V6. Completely different engines.
>>
>>15088230
Panther was made to accommodate for taxi/police equipment in the center console, so manual is a no go unless you want a column shifter manual
>>
>>15088240
There's nothing in the center. You cut a hole to stick the shifter through.
>>
>>15088300
aftermarket, yes. stock it wasn't worth it for ford to engineer such a low volume variant.
>>
>>15088238
So it took until 2011 to come out with an engine to beat a V8 that came out in 1991 that's in a platform designed in the 70's.
>>
>>15088321

> Reaching this hard

The point is that the V8's everyone is creaming their cunts about is shittier than modern V6's but on this board if you have a V8, people assume it's god tier regardless of how shitty it actually is.
>>
>>15088329
The saddest part here is you have to go to a panther thread to feel good about V6's. That's how low you have to go. And they still aren't close to the price bracket of a P71.

>>15088315
Column shifters aren't hard to adapt. All new police cars have them while the civilian market has a center shifter. That's a key thing to look for if buying a newer police car. Especially the Chargers.
>>
>>15087682
kek
>>
>>15087758
this
during the vast majority of my driving, my engine never goes above 2000RPM. I rarely even hear the engine.
