Will there ever be a time where internal combustion engines no longer need bump sticks?
>>
>>15075634
yeah its called a dorito

Will there ever be a time where piston engines no longer need bump sticks?
>>
>>15075638
There's this
>>15075634
And there's also that "No-Valve" thing Koenigsegg introduced a couple months back.
>>
>>15075644
yeah its called a 2 stroke
>>
>>15075644
2 stroke engines.

Also a 2 stroke makes more power than an equally sized 4 stroke.
>>
>>15075646
pneumatic / electronically controlled valves have been a thing for a very long time.

Nobody bothers using them in performance vehicles because the need didnt match the cost.
>>
>>15075647
>>15075654
Jeez, I usually need at least 5000 strokes before I'm satisfied.

Engines baka
>>
electromagnetic valves sound like a gud laff
>>
>>15075668
Since when does baka autocorrects to baka?

Or is there a fucking filter I didn't know about?
>>
>>15075676
newfag out
>>
>>15075677
I've been on /o/ for six years; this is the first wordfilter I've encountered on this board.

Desmodromic valves?
>>
>>15075680
zimbabwe
>>
>>15075634
>>15075689
also sleeve valves like on the spitfire engine.
>>
>>15075676
>>15075680
lol 'i was here last year and it didnt exist then!"
#outoftouch

>>15075689
still uses a camshaft. thats a replacement for the valve spring and tappet/cam follower.

desmo's still have a camshaft (though it looks different)
its just a more complicated version of a rocker arm (instead of a single rocker arm, it has two, one to push the valve down, the other to lift it up) to combat valve bounce at high RPM.
>>
FCAs Multiair engines are camless
>>
pneumatic and electronic valves exist FIA just wont let them use them.

wont see them in production cars for a long time.
>>
>>15075715
All I know is moot brought back wordfilters and fortunes around 2013-2014.

Nigger was filtered to nignog
Faggot was filtered to candyass

Some time later, the filters were removed and I figured that was it.

So the acronym for "shake my head" filters to "baka" now... what else is filtered?
>>
>>15076022
thb senpai
>>
>>15076022
Shake my head to be honest family is now baka desu senpai. That shit was getting really annoying before the filter.

Jesus are you folks all retarded?

F1 engines do not use cam shafts
New FIAT engines do not use camshafts on the intake valves.
Koenigsegg is no longer using camshafts

Pic related
>>
>>15075638
Doritos will NEVER become more useful or usurp piston engines as the preeminent internal combustion engine design. They will forever be a novelty meme engine.

Deal with it.
>>
>>15076350
>F1 engines do not use cam shafts
yes they do
>New FIAT engines do not use camshafts on the intake valves.
Correct
>Koenigsegg is no longer using camshafts
Yes they are

1/3 looks like you're the retarded one anon
>>
>>15075741
No they are not. The multiair system is driven by a cam. It just has an intermediate electrohydraulic actuator instead of a solid actuator.
>>
>>15076350
>New FIAT engines do not use camshafts on the intake valves.

Yes they do. The actuation still comes from a camshaft (the exhaust camshaft), that actuation is just selectively attenuated by an electrohydraulic actuator.
>>
>>15076409
>>15076433
my bad looks like anon got 0/3 kek
>>
>>15076082
Smh desu senpai
>>
>>15076022
>Nigger
That was roody poo

One konigsegggg perfects their system and costs come down we'll see it. The benefits are immense. Not only do you get rid of a lot of friction losses you get a quantum leap in controlling airflow into and out of the engine.
You'll see it on their cars for the exclusive and first factor but by a decade after that other premium cars will have it at the very least with it trickling down to the plebmobiles.
>>
>>15075654
but 2 stroke engines make more power than 4 stroke engines dummy
>>
>>15077917
That's what he said faggot
