It's very simple. In 2000 the Board at Toyota made the decision to become the worlds largest car company. Their clear and unambiguous target was GM. Toyota began manufacturing cars for a purpose other than quality, originality, or image. They became a company driven by accountants instead of engineers and enthusiasts. Toyota is a different company from the one that built the Supra. It's a soulless corporation providing a commodity. Market share is more important that great cars. Average cars, built to an average level of quality sell the most and require the least amount of engineering or innovation. Just step back and look at the entire product line and it becomes painfully obvious that Toyota is a Japanese GM. They are exactly what they want to be.
