get outta here, really? ive spent many a street night up at the strip and hear claims like this every single time from the civic crews. someones always got a buddy with a 10 second NA vtec. one time i was talking to a bunch of em lined up right next to me during a track shutdown, and they were talking about their all motor civic and how its going to run 11s. all night i saw the guy running 14s, barely even trapping 3 digits on 110 race fuel. i always just thought they were a myth.

No it is not, because

Making 150hp/L ceases to be impressive when you are running race gas in a built engine, and 10s cease to be impressive when you're running a completely stripped out, caged drag car with slicks.

I can go to any test and tune night and find a stripped out drag car on slicks running 10s or faster. 10s are impressive for STREET cars, I would be impressed to see a 10 second civic that is remotely streetable, and no I don't mean some technically "street legal" stripped out civic that would fail any inspection in any state where there is one. Hell, even 12s are damn impressive for a fully equipped street car that isn't some sort of exotic. I'll be taking pictures and asking questions when I see a civic pull up to the strip with a full interior and the AC blowing cold before running 12s with no more prep than a drop in tire pressure.

Maybe I'm just jaded because I've spent lots of time at drag strips, but I don't care what kind of car it is, the 10s completely fail to impress me when it's a shell with an engine, racing seats and a cage running race gas and on full slicks.

Guy tried to pass me on the right in a bus only lane that had buses parked in it about 300 yards ahead of us. I was in right hand lane, he was behind me, car to my left was blocking left lane keeping up with me. I saw him swing out to pass on the right, he caught me about 2.5k into 3rd gear so I just put my foot on it. He caught up quickly, but not fast enough to get around me before reaching the buses. He dropped back and came up on my left yelling at me as we came up to the next light. I just smiled and waved, then we red light raced from there. He was extremely upset and fucked up his shift into second gear (or did something that made the car over rev and take a while to shift to third). He still got away from me but it was good fun pissing the guy off.

Its a 93 lx wagon with a 1.9L auto. I guess it could beat a lowered car but that is like saying you can beat a retarded kid at math. That being said I did manage to get it up to over 90 mph before on the highway. It started shaking so bad I thought for sure it was going to fall apart and I was going to die.
