Is there a single new vehicle made that does not include large screens built into the dash and/or instrument cluster?
Is there a single new car that still starts by putting a key into the ignition and turning it?
What would be the best late 90s/early 2000s car to buy and garage for the time when rolling computers become the only things available? I'm talking great parts availability and vehicle reliability. I don't even like power windows, so seeing all these cars loaded down with power gadgets and "driver assist" mechanisms is annoying.

The Bedford Rascal is an idea choice. Very reliable, small and quick. And it starts with a key.

I should have specified that I live in the United States. Those cars are not available here.

A base model Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris? Was that hard?
The Fiesta I suppose has a knob window turner.
Or a base Mazda 2 or 3 would go good.
Even for a base model these days, there are standard A/C, FM, automatic front row only windows, etc.
If you are that old school and can't move forward with time, please kill yourself before you spread your mental condition.

egt with the times, it's 2016, I mean COME ON
as far as i know only mitsu enables you to choose between dot-matrix things and actual screens
they all have actual key ignition too

If you're running from the police, then an older car is needed. Any newer car that has cell or satellite connection might be turned off by the police. Or the onboard microphones could be turned on for surveillance purposes.

I'm just waiting for rear backup cameras to become mandatory by law.

The law is already in place in the US

Sheeeit, I must. Nobody I know drives a new car and I don't keep up with the laws. What year did the backup camera become mandatory? I'm surprised it wasn't a big deal, government mandated cameras and all.
