If anything it's the LMP1 class that doesn't matter. As it stands in recent years, Porsche, Audi, and Toyota each have about a 30% chance of landing a spot on the podium. LMP1 is a dying spec that nobody cares about and therefore each entry has a better chance of winning. Plus, the spec is inherently faster than the GT classes.

No, it really did get lucky. 1991 LM24 was its one and only victory. In its 20 other races it would trouble the podium only one time with its 3rd place at Fuji. That's a podium average of less than .100 which makes it a shit race car.
