No, but they are fantastic for abducting hookers. Cops won't chase you so you can take your plates off. Wear a full face helmet and they can never if you. If they get too uppity then just push the off while on a freeway and problem solved. Bonus if you own a Dualsport, can take them into woods where no one can hear their screams.

>Over a month of scouring Craigslist for a decent deal on a bike with no luck
>Suddenly, CBR600 F4i for only $1800 CDN
>Holy shit holy shit!
>Send email
>Owner getting dozens and dozens of emails
>Picks mine because it was brief to the point, and didn't try to haggle
>Says that the bike is mine if I can come get it
>Except that he lives in a smaller town an hour to the North on one of the most dangerous and twistiest highways in the country
>Have just enough money for the bike and insurance, and not even fifty dollars more
>It's a CBR600 - better risk it
>Ask a buddy who lives in the same town to drop me off
>Arrive, see bike, exchange money
>Need to buy insurance
>Owner gives me ride into town, buy insurance, go back to bike
>Sun has now set, it is dark and pitch black
>Storm rolls in, lightning, thunder, heavy pouring rain
>Bike is pic related, exposed wiring and zip ties galore
>Ride home on the scariest mother fucking highway ride of my life
>Soaking wet, totally unfamiliar with the bike
>Never drove a 4 cylinder before, never been on anything as aggressive
>Headlight sucks, can't see more than about 2 feet in front of me on the whole trip
>No money for hotel, no place to stay, it was basically trust in the bike and have it take me home or everything is fucked

Somehow I arrived home safe and sound and with a perfectly functioning CBR600.

Why are SV650s such meme machines? Everywhere I look people are singing the praises of these things like they're some kind of miracle bike but they don't look much different from other 600s. They just look like generic sportbikes and their specs aren't the greatest.

Is it because they're so affordable? I don't understand...

Enlighten me, brothers.

Guy who I bought it from made the pelican cases " fit", pretty much just drilled 2 holes into the case, threaded 2 holes into the storage frames, and it gets set in place by 2 knobs. I'll take some pictures once I get home.
>>
>>14993725
oh ok, usually you have marks on your swingarms to check if they are aligned properly. Also check the usual things - chain tension and retorque nuts if you aren't sure
>>
>>14993736
>>14993807
I'm inclined to say the 690SMC looks like the best all around bike for hooning and daily riding. It looks like a good middle ground.
I currently own a DRZ400 and a 450EXC. The 450 is a lot of fun but you might be turned off by the maintenance schedule associated with race-bred machines. The DRZ400 probably won't excite you too much coming from a much more powerful bike.

Big engine but only two cylinders, so you get to make a lot of noise and talk the talk while still being on a bike safe for learners and inexperienced riders.

It's pretty maneuverable, to it's credit.

It's easily affordable, like most Suzakis.

It's got an iconic "snake" look that no other bike has. It looks really long and narrow, and it's pretty sleek.

Any ideas?? Now I what I think happened it that I left it on the accessory spot all day because I lock the fork but didn't know about the accessory right below it. I'm going to go try to start it in a while once the bike cools off to see if it's gonna start.

Is it easy/possible to ride 2-up on most dual sports? I'm not talking like the BMW dual sports with two seats, I mean like DRZs or KLXs with the bench-style cradle seat. I really want a dual sport to hoon on (<$3000 so the fancy BMWs are out of the question) but I need to occasionally ride with a pillion, maybe even on the highway (60 mph). Is this possible on a cheap dual sport or should I just suck it up and buy a 300/400 sportbike?

How did you like the Street Triple? Considering one as a first big bike upgrade after my little shit bike.

As a side point, why did Triumph make their bikes uglier? Both the new Striple and Daytona got worse. Striple for it's bug eyes and side exhaust and the Daytona for it's "spiky" fairing (looks weird to me), it's rounder front end and again, it's side exhaust instead of underseat.

Actually, while I'm at it, why the fuck have underseat exhausts seemed to have gone out of fashion on new bikes? They look so so much nicer. Is it down to geometry or just a trend?

most supersports are 4 cylinder, yes.
you could go like this

>commuters are inline twins
>choppers are V twin
>nakeds are from 2-4 cylinders (so 3 would be your best bet)

I'm looking for a 2011 Speed Triple. Everyone owner thinks:
-mods add to the market value of their bike.
-Their bike is only immaculate bike with 2500miles all the others that did the same mileage are beat
-price above nada, KBB, and other triples with colors I don't want

One guy priced his for $9000 grand which is what 2013's are going for, and said he will take off the LED turn signals, exhaust, and other bull shit and lower price $1000.

Other douchebag told me he can't sell lower than 8k because PO put alot of mods on. And he has none of the stock parts.

however if you want Puke Green, period red, or a mix of blue and grey, or white with a mix of bullshit you are in luck because they are priced 6500-7500.

I wear closeout Bell RS-1s and Stars.

I've been slowly accumulating motorbike stuff over the last year or so. I'm in the UK so I can't just jump on a bike and go on my car license. I've got a shitty hoodie with kevlar inserts and a decent helmet my dad picked out with me (he's been riding since the 60s)

What do I still need? Boots for sure, and probably gloves. I'm going to book my CBT (basic bike test, lets you have a 125cc) in a couple weeks, after I've got everything I need. My dad says I can borrow his Lexmoto commuter whenever I want so I've got a first bike lined up as well.

Gloves are the most important thing since you've already got a helmet. You can't do much without your hands, m8.

You would be alright with those two as the bare minimum. Boots with ankle protection is probably the next step after that. Then jacket and trousers of whatever type you fancy.
>>
>>14995130
Any reccomendations? I'm looking at http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/ and the gloves start at £35, but I'm sure I could find cheap chinese ones on ebay and such (where I got my hoodie)
>>
>>14995174
£35 is already pretty cheap. Have a look at the budget but still decent quality brands like RST and Hein Gericke. I wouldn't go near any of the cheap Amazon/Chinese stuff. You'll see gloves for like £5 and the back of the glove will be covered with all the cool rubber knuckle guards but the actual glove itself is made of thin shit leather, if it even is leather. There wont be any good reinforcement on the palm, little finger etc. You might as well get a pair of gardening gloves.

Spend a little more and get something half decent that you can keep in the long term.

>>14995174
I get that you're likely underage and don't have a lot of money but cheaping out on gear basically never pays off in the long term, the gear falls apart or is shit, and you end out buying the proper stuff eventually anyway, Rjays gloves, cheap AGV helmet (don't buy cheap agv), aldi jacket. I've made terrible gear choices in the past.

idk what you have in bongland but in the US you can get decent gloves for $60, jacket for $150, pants for $150, and boots for $150. I wouldn't go any cheaper as quality of the cheap stuff is shit.
>>
Hey kiddies, need some advice here.
I've got about twenty grand NZD to spend, which is like, 14-15 grand USD. I've owned a few bikes now, but want something new that I absolutely adore.

Bikes I have owned:
> x3 Suzuki SV650's
> Honda GB400TT
> Honda CX500
> x3 Honda DR650's
> BMW G650GS
> BMW F650GS Twin
> Suzuki V-Strom DL650
> x2 Suzuki GSX250
> Honda CB250RS
> Suzuki DRZ400E
> Honda XR650R
> Hyosung GT650R
> Yamaha FZR250
> Yamaha XT660R

Bikes I currently own:

> BMW F650GS Twin
> Suzuki DR650
> Suzuki DL650

Now, the bikes I have been looking at are the run of the mill litre bikes, a couple panigales.

Main contenders are:

> BMW R1200GS
> BMW F800GSA
> BMW S1000RR
> BMW HP4 (If still available)
> KTM 690 Enduro
> KTM 1050 Adventure

What do I get, or any other bikes I should get? I want something that really captivates me again, I had a dream about the KTM 690 which was cool as fuck, so I'm kinda leaning towards it.

Help fampai

>all helmets are the same safety wise
They all meet a minimum standard but that doesn't mean they're all the same. At least not according to the SHARP testing/rating guys.

That Berg should do power wheelies with no problem.

>tfw no FE570
>>
I just lane splitter past one of those chp convoys on the 405 and felt like such a boss.

These niggas close down the freeway during rush hour when everyone is going home, so Trump, or Bernie, or some other asshole VIP can be protected. Whereas they could've done it two hours earlier or later with no traffic.

So they had the right 3 lanes open to regular traffic and chp car wouldn't let me past, so I just went with the other traffic and passed them by lane splitting.

Wish I would've had my cam on to show how big a rebel I am.

well I can guarantee you if you can't wheelie the berg right you won't be able to willy a grom, stock they're next to impossible to pop, you need 1200 techniques to do it.
>>
>>14995352
I don't really know, I was drunk when I ordered it and it's pretty comfy. I'll likely get an actual jacket before I start riding though
>>

Not exactly a price correlation there either.

And their test results are only valid for the exact helmet model tested. To attempt to extrapolate that as one brand is "safer" than the other or more expensive helmets are "safer" is factually wrong, which most people do.

Honestly though I don't know. Assuming you're not bullshitting you probably have experienced more bikes than anyone on DBT. Your main contenders are all so different though. Is there a particular kind of riding you want to do or do you like everything?
>>
>>14995370
Actually I should have gone for maximum memes

The equivalent Shoei or Arai is probably significantly lighter if nothing else though.
>>
>>14995353
You own a bunch of mediocre dual sports/adventure bikes already. Buy a BMW sportbike.
>>
>>14995368
If it is comfy it isn't going to do shit to protect you in a crash. Its not armor that is important, it is abrasion resistance.

Ehhh... it's not one or the other. You want impact protection and slide protection.

impact protection is far, far secondary to slide protection. A sweatshirt with d3O or 1970s leathers without armor is an easy choice. Racers did fine without hard armor for most the last century

Racing is quite different to street use but sure abrasion resistance is the main one. Also I'm not really talking hard armour but some foam protectors to cushion knees/elbows on impacting tarmac/cars/things.

Do leather suits have cushioning in the knee/elbow/shoulder or is it just leather?
>>
>>14995470
Depends on the suit. They certainly aren't as gussied up with hard armor all over the place like street gear. Old leathers at most had some thin padding on the knees/elbows.

Market price goes down, taxes goes up, regulation goes up, if the government is even halfway organized and competent they'd implement passive price controls.

Idk, even if Trump is Prez. Petroleum is a finite product, humans are a renewable resource, unlike crude oil.. it's dumb to waste it by selling it cheaply. A million human lives are literally infinitely cheaper than the gas in your tank, on a long enough time line. Something for you commodity traders to consider.

Only evangelists who believe Jesus spontaneously makes gasoline and short-sighted opportunist degenerates vote for fossil fuel based energy plans.

You shouldn't need to see brake lights to see that cars ahead are stopping or slowing down.

You also need to be more aggressive on your bike. The guy saw you for a bitch and linked you. You then pulled up to his window and let him cuck you while you did nothing. Let him run you over next time, you'll get a new bike and won't get hurt granted you are wearing proper gear.

When he inched forward, you should've gone in front, then you passively accelerated and let him take control of the lanes. Use your horn to alert him and other drivers when he starts merging into you so you have some witnesses.
