Here in Australia the Hilux has developed a bad reputation thanks to their numerous breakages and recalls on this so called "unbreakable" 4x4.

The Mazda BT50 has gained favour for workmen, and the Ford Ranger with posers. Also the abysmal fuel econony of the petrol pissed a lot of people off.

The base V8 is the only one in the VDJ70s. The twin turbo is reserved for the J200. Although I can tell you first hand the lower spec single turbo 1VD by no means comes up short, as its modest torque peak is available from 1200rpm out to over 3000rpm.
