i would expect to get mid 40s with a 4 stroke, but i was hoping for at least 30mpg. theres a ton of jetting notes in the owner's manual i got, so i think someone has worked out the carb pretty well. it starts with one or two kicks and runs well so i dont think its just dumping gas unnecessarily. i havent checked the gearing it has yet.

I got no idea how 2-strokes should be but 15 sounds terrible. Are you sure you measured correctly?

Yes! But let's focus on what's important here: being judged on your chicken strips by anonymous no-bikes.
Just got hit by a water balloon on my bike on my way to work, I just kept going because work and I wasn't hurt. What would you have done?
>>14958925

>>14958963

>>14958963

>>14958946
So you think lack of chicken strips on a road commuter bike are a sign of an attention seeking rider?
>>14958973
no, posting motovlogs are the sign of an attention seeking rider
>>14958973
No I think the lack of chicken strips says nothing about a rider.
>>14958910
i dont think it is running particularly rich, at least more than a 2 stroke should. the 300 EXC are well known for being uneconomical and this motor is even bigger. between gearing, mixed traffic/offroad use, and the fudge factor of not having an odometer (i know generally how much ground i covered though) i might be able to improve to 25 mpg but its horrible mileage regardless
and theres also the fact that 5 gallons of premix costs $12.50 in gasoline and $13.47 of Bel-Ray H1R, meaning its not twice but 4 times as expensive to run as your 4 stroke.
>>14958973
He's being sassy you fucki-fhktewagbxz!(7$fukbv
>>14958998
But rebuilds will be cheaper for you because you wouldn't have to replace valves, valve seats, cam chain and all that other shit in your head.
Also that seems ridiculously expensive for 2-stroke oil. For 5 gallons you should be mixing less than 1/5 a quart of oil. Are you paying $67/quart?
>>14959021
I just paid dealer price for the small bottle they stocked. I can get it down to $17/qt by ordering online.
And yes, a top end job will come in under $250, and a rod kit is like 300. There's definitely a savings there.

BMW's 652cc single and their 798cc parallel twin are good engines, they're mostly free from prolific issues though the water pump on their single is known to die eventually. I haven't heard much bad about their little scoots with parallels either.
They had some issues with their touring bikes, though I forget if it was with the 1170cc i4 or 1649cc i6. A bunch of issues were just addressed in the last model year.
The 999cc beast in the S1000RR has some semi frequent issues too, to be fair here I don't know of any 200bhp high compression bike engine thats made to be a reliable daily driver.
BMW's line up is basically hit or miss. They're either solid as a rock or full on Ducati meme in terms of reliability. If you have a consumer reports subscription($30 for a year) its worth reading through their brand reliability report. Caveat is that its a survey taken from consumer reports subscribers.

A bike is more than just an engine. As the other anon said the transmission of the s1000rr (and bmws in general) are pretty shitty and if you check the forums these problems usually happened to people that used low milage bikes on track. I guess that full-throttle shifting isn't good for the transmission (something you do while short highway pulls)

much slower actually, some 600's can be brought down into high 10's (10.9 etc.) like the zx-6r.
Stock they put down about average 600 cc bike power but they weigh a good 100kg+ more.
Is there such thing as all-season wataproof leather jacket?

Your typical V-Rod is around a high 11 second bike. Which is reasonably fast for a cruiser.
The Destroyer you're talking about however, was barely competitive against a standard 1000 super bike. And we're talking about something fitted with wheelie bars and an air shifter.

>>14959834
I used to think carbs were evil black boxes were problems came from, but after cleaning mine and studying them I'm actually very happy with them.
I'm currently troubleshooting a problem with the air intake system (I'll try a solenoid delete tomorrow) that I'm almost sure is related to some old cracked air intake hoses being too loose.
Anyhow during my googling I stumbled upon some pretty horrifying EFI problems on the newer CBRs, from fried sensors to bikes running too rich when hot and fouling plugs, to all sorts of expensive electronic things involved.
I must confess I felt happy and smug about my primitive fuel delivery system :^)

I like looking and talking about motorcycles.
>>14960172
I like cumming on photo's but you don't see me trolling with it constantly.
here is my 2006 KLX250s
>>14960165
>suicide shift
Protip, suicide shift refers to spring loaded foot clutches, not hand shift. Because if you started falling to the left at a stop light you would have to take your foot off to balance it, then the clutch would engage and you'd jump into the intersection and die. That bike appears to have the clutch on the shifter.
/autism
>>14960198
how can you stick your dick in it's exhaust? or are you just a micro dicked dirt bike rider?
>>14960190
You're my favorite, cum tribute anon.
>>14960152
>anything to do with cruisers
>good
hahahahaha
>>14960216
Seconded
what do you guys think of white dirt bikes? I painted my mud guard red to see if I want to commit to it as the secondary color, what are your guys thoughts?
>>14960212
I'd let that bitch sit on my face.
>>14960203
Roger that sweety.
I skipped class on suicide shift day I guess. However will I go on with life
>>14960203
Wouldn't releasing the clutch that fast just make the bike stall? Also you'd have to be retarded to not hold either of the brakes when you started tipping knowing you had that kind of clutch.
>>14960216
>>14960222
Third
>>14960228
You'd die.
>>14960228
You and me both friend.
>>14960211
>no fun allowed
>>14960237
Not with a torque monster knuckleheads or Indian fours
>>14960255
Why are cruiser riders so adverse to safety gear?
>>14960255
Those shitty tattoos make me sad
>>14960259
because its a part of my culture, the bikers code. Band of brothers, you wouldnt understand civilian.
>>14960165
me too. that one is kind of a cheater though, it has the clutch on the shifter
>>14960190
>>14960190
touche, but then again I only troll when it has been provoked.
>>14960275
Thinking about this one next, you look so cute.
>>14960259
Honestly, I don't know. Especially where I live I see just as many squids on sportbikes as cruisers. I wouldn't go without some form of gear, but others have more balls I guess.
>>14960259
Not all of us are like that anon
>>14960275
Word, I didn't study the pic that hard.
>>14959847
open face helmets look dorky as fuck
>>14960259

A cute girl on a bike gave me the sekret klub sign, which made me sperg out and give her the finger instead of signing back
>>14960338
You're the only cruiser rider I actually see post in here. Everyone else seems to just post cruisers to troll. For the record that Indian is tasteful as fuck.
>>14960357
what wife
>>14960359
sekret klub sign? You mean waving?
who triggered the harleycuck this time?
>>14960368
The peace sign thing
>>14958767
guys im working on a cx500 right now, what is this connector i need three of them please help
>>14960357
Don't worry anon, its just a prototype that will never see the light of day outside of a handful of test rides a couple years ago.
Harley couldn't find a way to get Pakistan to cheaply produce them like they do with everything else they sell, so Zero and Brammo stepped up and captured the US made electric motorcycle market.
>>14960372
nobody triggered me friend, just posting Harley's.
>>14960360
Much appreciated anon. All my sportbike rider buddies love my bike. Def comfy if you ever get a chance to sit on one.
The pics don't do it any justice, the pearl white is so much better looking in person
>>14960375
So the wave.

-_- figured it was a common molex but i guess it's a custom japanese electrical fitting specifically designed and manufactured for the 1979 honda cx500
>>14960377
Just get some battery lead and fittings to suit. Don't buy over priced honda OEM for that shit.
>>14960400
I think I found them anon.
>>14960468
im not the cx500 anon but nice spot on the harness
