>>
>>14903236
Depends. Honda makes a 670cc parallel twin that is geared entirely towards commuting with fuel efficiency in mind. A 400cc i4 putting out 53bhp is a solid engine for a commuter bike.
There are some high displacement thumpers that make for solid commuters too.

Can't really generalize anything based on displacement alone.

The engine is decent, the handling is decent, the ergos are good after I swapped the handlebars, the fuel economy is decent, and it has proven itself time and time again to be absolutely indestrucible. I have no need or desire to get another until I have to get rid of this one for some reason. Next step is modding it to full touring/adventure mode and slapping some 80/20 road/off-road tires on it and take it to the wilderness.

>>14903348
It's only the bitch seat part, and it's not as bad as it looks, the effect in picture looks worse because everything else is tilted, too. You can't feel it.

Also fixing up all the fucked fairings. There's literally not a single fairing piece left that hasn't cracked or melted.

Owners manual will tell you how to do the basics like oil changes, air filters etc.

Workshop manual will tell you how to do everything from valve clearance to fully stripping the engine.

Having a look on Youtube and Google always helps. Purchase the correct tools as you you need them.

This sounds like a loose connector, check the plug that connects the whole cluster, shuld be somewhere under the handlebars.

Also for the 3 cylinders, it's the carbs.
Probably one of the spark plugs is dead.

Peak torx is 89.

The engine makes about 70 ft.lbs at 2,000 rpms. Thats why they say triples don't have a torque curve, they have a torque horizon.

650cc is objectively the best. Better and comfier than a 600 for city riding and enough power to btfo of just about everyone.

Yeah, no.

I seriously don't understand why anyone would ever remotely consider buying some bike in shit condition. Why don't you buy nice bikes in good condition and enjoy riding and your life much more while not looking like a poorfag? Buy something that doesn't need a thousand dollars in repairs. Buy something that doesn't look like absolute shit.

It's fun and cheap as a project bike, but because it's 30+ years old, it might not be the best commuter.

It will pick the worst possible time to die on you forever.

Also, they were king shit in the 1980's, but they are clunky and obese compared to even 90's sportsbikes.

500km a day is easily doable if you start in the morning and take breaks and if your bike is comfy enough. You won't be doing anything else during that day, though.

Example trips I made last summer in a day:
>Stockholm - Malmö 600+ km
>Mannheim - Kochel 400+ km
>München - Liechenstein - Livigno - Bolzano 500+ km (although that was hell due to thunderstorm on the mountains)
>Bolzano - Bled - Graz 500+ km
>Wien - Warsaw almost 700km
>Kaunas - Pärnu 450km

How do I set a max amount I'm willing to pay and the let the thing bid by itself?
I remember trying but instead of increasing the current bid by the minimum amount it just bid everything I was willing to pay.

Not that guy but I picked up a DR650 for 1500 dollars and the only thing wrong with it was that it had a very slight oil leak and the fork seals needed replacing. Try to talk him under 2200, if he won't budge then he's way too optimistic

I've found my K1600 to be the best compromise for sports/touring. You only have a to give up a little of both.

It is HUGE, though. And expensive.

Disregarding niggerbusas and dragsters, do motorcycles generally have about the same wheelbase?
>>

The K1600 is awful.

The Katana is best compromise between sports and touring.

Yes I know the R1200R isn't a full on tourer
>>

Nope.
Wheel base, head angle, and steering angles vary by a few degrees from one model to another.

Why do black people like Hayabusas so much?
>>
how could anyone want a tourer? just ride an r1 until your back gives out and then be a cruisercuck.
>>
>>14904290
Meh, it doesn't feel huge to me. But yeah, it's 'spensive. But so was the Goldwing and the Ultra Glide...for their time. Ultras cost as much as a BMW now. Not sure what pricing on Goldwings are now, but I know a fully equipped one with ALL the options was about $26,000-$27,000 2 years ago.
>>
>>14904307
Only in the States. In Europe (masterrace btw) niggers don't ride motorcycles. Hayabusa riders are generally well educated and know how to ride here.
>>
>>14904307
So they can pretend to be a cool street samurai from the cyberpunk future.
>>
/dbt/ I have only been riding for about a month, but today was my first day of riding. I was just commuting before, but today I finally had free time so I decided just to go. I went into the country and smelled and felt nature for what seemed like the first time. Only now do I fully understand why people ride. Why didn't any one say it was this amazing?

so my wife says,
> you should always have a little cash in your wallet in case of emergencies
>what if you were out with our son, you would need a little money if there was an emergency.

So I took $300 from the roboteller and stuffed it in my wallet, which made my wallet so fat it fell out of my pocket onto the street, where some homeless guy picked it up and took the cash and spent $197.97 on my HSA card....

BUT the wallet was so fat it didn't fit in my leathers so I put my license and auto club card and registration and proof of insurance in my jacket pocket lady time I rode...

So, am I:
a) lucky
B) unlucky
C) currently drinking
>>
>>14904496

>>14904496
It's not being unlucky. It's being stupid enough to listen to a woman.
>>
>>14904496
Why the fuck would you carry $300 cash on you? Why the fuck would you not keep your wallet secure? Why the fuck are you listening to your wife? Why the fuck are you too stupid to know that "emergency cash" is a stupid thing to carry precisely because you're more likely to get it stolen or lost than to use it?
>>
>>14904515
No, I lost the wallet walking down the street. I just didn't take it riding, I took the wallet to work with me. But riding saved my license

I carry some cash on me, not $300 unless I have some reason to, but say your bike breaks down in the middle of nowhere cash for gas money could get you a ride somewhere with cell service or whatnot.

>>14904559
The $40-80 I have in my wallet for general use is fine for that. It's not emergency cash, just what a normal person has.

>>
>>14904544
HSA money will come back in 7-10 days, $300 is no doubt in possession of an unnamed drug dealer by now... Sigh. But thanks for the consideration you are giving the subject. And I am not going to buy another wallet.
>>
>>14904565
Why not just open your own shop out of your garage?

It's not like you need big, bulky, expensive equipment like a car shop.

The biggest issue with motorcycles are largely carb related and can be solved with a simple cleaning and rebuild, so the only things you'll need to buy are some of the more specialized hand tools and an ultrasonic cleaner.
>>
>>14904565
Trade school of you can swing it.

I agree $300 is retarded, I have known people that refuse to carry any cash just because it could get stolen or whatnot. I thought you were one of those
