1970 1/2 Ford Falcon
Based on the then new Torino body, but sold only as a two door post, it was marketed as a fleet vehicle option for the police and cab companies. It, for the most part, was a very bare bones car. The cool thing however is for it's short (5 month) production run, literally ANY engine and available transmission combination that Ford produced could be had in the car. This goes up to such monsters as the 429 CJ 4bbl, and it could even be ordered with the drag pack suspension and a heavy duty four speed topped with a Hurst shifter. The real kicker though was that because the car was so bare bones, even such a fire breather was coming in well under the MSRP of any of it's contemporaries.

No.
Also, a 1969 Boss 429 is an engine, not a car.

Fuck yes, Olds. Favorite company of all time and I'll never stop being mad about the sad, disgusting death it suffered.

>>14887591
My own favorite would be an early 70's Cutlass ('70 in particular, that grille makes my dick diamonds every time, despite it being one of the few years there was no famous Hurst/Olds), but a post-war 88 would be just as good.
>>14887587
no the engine is the CJ 429 iirc
with the 71 year ford made the mustang considerably bigger to make room for a bigger engine and to put it in the muscle segment.
Probably a toss up between a Gran Torino, 442 and Javelin.
>>14887620
Nope, Cobra Jets were all 428ci FE-type wedgeheads. The Boss 429 units were different engines based on the newer 385 architecture, with their famous hemispherical heads (although Ford called them 'crescent' to not give Mopar fanboys any ammo).
Both the 428 CJ and 429 Boss were just engines, offered in all kinds of cars. The 429 was famously homolated for Nascar in the 1969 Mustang, but it was also used in the Thunderbird (starting in '68) and Torino.

I have a massive hard on for early 70s Trans Ams/Firebirds. Much sexier take on the F-Body then the Camaro.

>a-body not a muscle car
>Chevelle, LeMans, Century, Skylark, Cutlass, El Camino, Monte Carlo not muscle cars
Get a load of this pleb.
But "Oh no", I hear the musclefags cry, "it's too sporty to be a muscle car! Only useless cars can be muscle cars!".
>>14887867
Dude, Mopar A-body, not GM A-body.
Also, El Camino isn't a muscle car. Hell it's not even a car.
>>14887893
It's as much of a car as when someone takes an actual car and chops the rear roof off to make a cargo bed, which is pretty much exactly what they did. Are you going to argue that this isn't a car either?
>>14887901
Yeah, it's a ute.
>>14887368
I dunno man. I love the car in pictures but looks weird in real life.
>>14887910
Utes are just a subgroup of cars like wagons. Or is a wagon a van in that head of yours?
>>14887581
>implying anywhere is peaking right now
>>14887923
I think a ute is more of a car-y truck then it is a truck-y car. It's semantics anyways.
Fortunately, an Elco can't be a muscle car, that's pretty clear. It's not a coupe or two-door hardtop (fastback or notchback).
>>14887581
Emissions and Safety regulations are a hell of a drug
>>14887946
A Charger becomes more similar to an El Camino than a Chevelle simply by taking the trunklid off.
>>14887953
Clean air is one hell of a drug, sure. And modern muscle cars look even edgier than old ones.
The reason American cars went to shit wasn't emissions and safety, it was carelessness. Detroit defeated itself by believing it couldn't be defeated.

>>14887441

>>14887966
That's a lot of implications you're throwing around. If you seriously think bloating the cars and strangling V8s didn't accelerate the demise of the American car industry you're delusional.
