wat do

maintain speed and possibly get bumped (and blamed since theyre the police and can do nothing wrong) or go over the speed limit and possibly get a ticket?

get bumped. The police have forward-facing cameras that are used in any police car accident, if he bumps you the camera will see it. Don't let the cops pressure you into breaking the law so they can meet their ticket quota.

Ayy Wisconsin. I'm in mil, right now our big problem is motorcycle cops. The fuckers come up to you 2-4 bikes deep, and stop you for anything. Another thing, I don't know if you're from Milwaukee, but if you are, why do cops do 70 in a 50 freeway zone? Lmao
>>
>>14884744

My friend did this because he didn't know it was a cop.

Then the cop sped around, flashed his lights, and took off. It was surreal.
>>
>>14887108
Honestly, I have no idea. Haven't seen many of the motorcycle cops yet.
>>
>>14885166

Because a bunch of people who also lack life experience told them they were supposed to be.

They have no sense of reality. They see a video of some cop losing his shit once in his career, and they figure that's just how all cops act all the time.

Or more specific to the millennial generation, they see videos of people ignoring police get manhandled, or even violent criminals handled aggressively, and get upset. I guess because they have deeply rooted entitlement issues and feel cops can't tell them what to do (because their parents didn't), or because they were indoctrinated since grade school to believe violence is always wrong.

The older they get, the more they'll interact with police, and the more comfortable they'll get...or they'll get into a self fulfilling prophecy, refuse to get out of the car because they think they know the law, get dragged out/arrested, and spend the rest of their lives resenting cops as if they're the problem.

Question: Why do cops even bother enforce speed limits on empty ass roads on days with great visibility?

That's the one reason I can't consider traffic cops based at all; they're no fun allowed dicks for no reason but some revenue. Cruisin' at 70 on a road that doesn't pass through anything remotely considered a town for 100 miles shouldn't be a criminal offense; it's not even like the limit is there for safety purposes at that point.
>>
>>14887183
More like people are afraid of cops because they're the base level of human judgement in the judicial system, the ones that decide to set the cogs in motion. And anybody can be gotten for something or another if they want to push hard enough. It's stupid to not fear that kind of power wielded by a total stranger.

This is compounded by the paramilitarization of most departments the last fifteen years or so and the supreme pressure of departments to generate revenue after so much federal incentives dropped off. This breeds too many cops who were never trained in the Serve part of Protect and Serve. Though to be fair, there's been a good amount of pushback against this the last couple years, and policy is shifting more back toward Serve and repairing community relations. Directing traffic, escorting funerals, doing school outreach, providing security for community events, these are the sort of things people like cops for. When it's nothing but tickets and arrests, of course nobody is going to like them. They become a necessary evil instead of a positive symbol of order.

Still in the end, cops you know well personally like friends are really the only trusted ones, because they're the only ones who know and trust you. Cops are just human, everything good and bad that goes with it. And strangers will always be viewed with suspicion from both sides, both the cops and the populace.
>>
>>14887229
Because it's profitable.
>>
>>14884732

Possibly teenagers scared of their parents finding out they received a traffic citation. Fearing the cops will set the cogs in motion over a traffic ticket is a pretty niche fear. It's a minor annoyance to most people.

It seems to me the youth is more scared of corrupt cops charging them with serious shit they didn't do, or getting violent with them for no reason. Those things are irrational fears, both because they're exceedingly rare, and because police don't have nearly as much freedom as the youth believe.

Cops used to make me nervous too. Then as I grew up my crimes got less heinous, my interactions were more pleasant, and I started getting warnings instead of citations. Then I was an analyst with the state police and they turned into normal people. In the decade since I left that job, I've had dozens of encounters with cops, some as butt puckering as, "My dog just hit on your vehicle, tell me where the drugs are." Yet I've never had a problem ending a stop on preferable terms, even when I refused to consent to searches or answer incriminating questions. I haven't even been cited in the twelve years since I was a little shit. My one weird trick is to be respectful.

Guess why in Germany police don't bother to personally enforce speed limits for shit. We just got cameras posted at the entrances to villages 50 yards behind the first speed limit sign. If you don't slow down fast enough you get a ticket. Or at the areas where year after year dumbshits manage to treequinox themselves in.

Pic related. The technical term for them at the law enforcement is "Starenkasten", "stork box", but everyone in Germany just calls them "Blitzer", "flasher", after the bright orange flash the camera makes in order to photograph you better. This fucking thing, the biclops of speed violations, is ever-present in the spots that people love to speed in (and are not an Autobahn). I don't think I ever heard anyone getting pulled over by cops for speeding unless he was dumb enough to do so while some cruiser was just out on patrol and literally saw him do it while on the move to somewhere.

Pretty similar to Finland, you see most cameras when entering cities/more populated areas. We call them "sheet cops", as in made of sheet metal. Sometimes they even don't have cameras inside, since cops seem to rotate them around to different places.

There are some moving speed traps on popular roads, especially when national holidays begin/end and people are commuting to countryside and back. Tomorrow is that speed trap marathon thingie, so speed traps everywhere.

I agree with you there, but the cops I know don't do that kind of shit unless their boss is really hounding them for a ticket quota. Setting up a speed trap on a long stretch of empty ass road in nowhereland isn't efficient policework, unless it's lunch and you've got 30 minutes to kill
