Why are Hella horns such a normie car meme? It's such an odd component to accent. They seem especially popular in the Subaru community because Subarus typically have anemic stock horns, but why mount them front-and-center in the grill? It looks so trashy.
>>
>>14869519
It's the normalfag equivalent to rice. Transformers badges and similar shit.
>>
>>14869620
Ricing is normalfag shit
>>
You'll never get a straight answer from any Subie owner, they all say their stock horn is too quiet which is a great point for people that use their horns on a daily basis for emergencies I suppose.
>>
Who uses their horn so often that it becomes a necessary upgrade item?

Are they driving wrong? Am I?
>>
>has a Subaru
>wants a train horn
>>
>>14869626
It's too autistic to be a normie thing.

>why is your hood wrapped
>because racecar, bro
>lol whatever

They put Batman stickers on the side and shit. Silly references to franchises or stick-on wind up things on the back.
>>
>>14869672
if I see another fucking transformers sticker I think I'm gonna scream
>>
>>14869519
That are for aesthetics, that's it.

Kinda related story.

>I was walking from my my car in a parking lot with my dad
>See a yellow 5th gen Camaro with black stripes pull in
>"Hey look, it's Bumblebee" I say jokingly to my dad
>Walk past the car
>It literally has transformers fender badge on it
>mfw

Why would anyone want their car to be a literal meme?

The fact that anybody would buy that makes me sad.
>>
>>14869789
It's trashy baby boomers wanting the feel of owning a classic without having to acquire and restore one. "I could buy a SS, but this one is bright yellow and has emblems from that movie. More people will notice me then."

It's rice for dads

>>14869789
I've seen at least 5 Call of Duty edition Wranglers
>>
>thinking there is anything odd about installing an absurdly loud horn to honk faggots daily
Its a particularly American thing I've noticed. European drivers don't react the same way. Americans and Canadians hear a car horn and think someone has insulted them, like its instantly personal, and they can't ignore it. Honk at someone and they either go pale faced with an instant wash of shame, they go red faced with guilt, or they go defensive like little bitches.
The louder and more obnoxious the horn, the better, as far as I'm concerned. Pay more attention when you're on the road and you won't get honked.
Get on my level you plebtrash.

My electrical engineering friend went ahead and somehow rewired his Honda GROM to take two of these. He is one devious bastard.

>be out riding with him
>riding down main avenue having fun
>come up to a light next to some girl in daddy's money Mustang
>friend waves at her and revs
>she flips him off
>he lays on the hella horn
>scares her so bad she launches herself into the car in front of her
>quickly lane split away why trying not to crash from laughing so hard
>>

C7, Camaro, Challenger, and the Mustang are all primarily inspired by Transformers and trying to reach that audience.
>>
>>14869519
on subarus, it's usually done when the person first gets their car and wants to do the "must have" mods (horns, mud flaps, plastidipped wheels, offset license plate). People with any kind of taste, or if it isn't their first Subaru, will usually not do this gay shit
>>
>>14869876
must be more of an american thing. Must haves for subies around here are headers, if not full exhaust, retune, new front grill and black lip around the body kit.

What's wrong with flaps? Sure they are on every enthusiasts WRX/STi, but it's not like they aren't functional.
>>
>>14870151
>They are functional

In what way
>>
>>14870158
Reduces the amount of rocks, salt, and other shit from scratching the paint. Have you ever driven on a gravel road?
>>
>>14870158
They block dirt and debris from sandblasting your paint. I go camping with my wrx and it keeps rocks from ricocheting up.
>>
>>14870179
>>14870173
99% of people don't rally an sti or a wrx

a mudflap isn't going to save you from the problems created by salted roads.

Got an STI that was driven for 77k miles and it hasn't chipped paint at all around the wheel wells.

>>
>>14870207
the huge mudflaps people get do nothing, you maybe only need them on the front wheels if that.

you will only make your car slower whilst at the same time looking like a penis to everyone else.

If you legitimately drive on shite roads a large proportion of the time they may help.

They are mainly an aesthetic thing

They will not help you against salt

They will not make your cars paint pristine.

RSD did a test and proved that having the flaps induced enough drag to about the equivalent of carrying 86 more pounds of weight @45 mph
