Okay /o/, I have a 97 Camaro Z28. It has a slushbox that just blew the fuck up, I dropped the transmission today and took it somewhere to get their verdict on what's fucked in it. I've wished the car was manual for some time, but I'm too poor to get a T-56 for it. I'm curious if it would be at all viable to put a Muncie or Borg-Warner Super T10 in it, there are several for sale in my area. I know that the bellhousing bolt pattern on my LT1 hasn't changed since 1955, my main concern would be the input shaft, making a shifter fit, and figuring out a clutch linkage that would work. Any thoughts?

Oh yeah I know I would also need a new transmission crossmember with a way to connect the torque arm to it. This is just something I'm sort of spitballing, I'm hardly set on the idea.
>>
Do it right and just get a T56.
>>
sell it
buy a 98+ LS1 with a t56.
faster and more fuel efficient

Rebuilt auto with manual valve body. If you're too poorfag to pay for a t56 you really can't afford to be without the car long enough for a tranny swap anyway.

Being without the car actually isn't a huge concern, currently I've been DDing my '69 F-250, so it's not like I'm without transport while it's down.

Thanks man, it's a pig on gas but she's a total honey to drive. I've posted her in the classic car general a few times.
>>
The main reason I got thinking about it is because I was cruising my local classifieds and found this.

That or a Muncie would work great. Overdrive does not make a car faster, it just adds a couple mpg at highway speeds.

My main concern would be fitment with the center console, since I obviously want the shifter placed correctly. I've heard that Super T10s got used in a lot of circle track third gen f-bodies, which are very similar to the fourth gen, so I'm wondering if I could repurpose some manual transmission parts from a turd gen for my own use.
