I don't even care if it's bad looking desu

In the tampa bay area....budget $3000
http://tampa.craigslist.org/search/cta?max_price=3000

I have no idea what to get, inb4 COROLLA
>>
Location: Seattle
Budget: 3k
Preference:
I'm looking for a reliable coupe sports car but a sedan would be okay too. Manual transmission if possible.
Anti lock breaks are important.
I know I can't be too picky but something good looking would be nice. Little to no body damage / rust etc.
>>
>>14848395
What's the preference? manual/auto, mileage, brand?

>>14848403
I'll look for ya'll, aint got shit else to do.
Give me a few minutes to look.

I want to manually shift the transmission but I want an auto brake system.
For what purpose?

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/search/nva/cto

Sport sedan, $6k budget
>>
>>14848467
nm i figured it out.
>when I'm cruisin I want bitches to think I know how to drive
>when It's panic time I want mama ecu to take over because I actually don't know how to dive.
Other reason you would want a manual, because you have no job.
>>
>>14848467
Sorry anon, I'm new to buying cars.
I didn't realize that there was a correlation between the transition type and abs.

It just rains all the time here and I read that for wet conditions, anti lock breaks are a good idea.

Are they not? Sorry and thanks
>>
>>14848403
Alright mate, huge list incoming. All are 3k on the dollar and you've probably seen a few if you've browsed.
Let me know what's crackin.

'98 Civic LX sedan, decent mileage, dirty interior so invest in black ice.
5 speed and bone stock, and the owner has quite a few service records according to the ad. Might be worth looking into.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/cto/5469225873.html
'87 Volks Fox
Interesting little shitbox, but has aftermarket and money/time invested into it. Might not be so hot when something breaks.

seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/5491373178.html
01 Focus sedan, 5 speed, motor is new but wheels are tasteless. I don't trust motor swaps myself but it's worth a look.

>93 Miata
http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/cto/5493214970.html

That pretty much fulfills all your requirements.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/5497413932.html
88 325IX
Interesting enough, probably a money sink.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/ctd/5499704379.html
beater on a budget? get a subaru station wagon.

>91 mk2 golf
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/5499324411.html
I'd get this simply because of the nostalgia factor, definitely worth looking into.

>Saturn SC2
http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/5507021274.html
Go-to shitbox that will compete with a honda and corolla in reliability, and this one is a manual -and- 95k miles on it. might be too good to be true tho, look into it.

>Subaru Outback
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/5509732852.html
Mileage is worrisome but if it was kept up good it's worth it.

>best toyota celica that's not RWD

needs paint.

>M edition miata

lots of aftermarket suspension bits looks like.

any interest?

>>14848475
Looking now, manual/auto?
>>
>>14848516
Damn! Thanks!
>>
>>14848489
for the most part ABS will help you more in icy situations, and even then in a manual you have access to engine braking which will function better than ABS in most circumstances.
also pumping brakes instead of just riding them.

>Interesting enough, probably a money sink.

This car has been on CL for a long while now, which leads me to a couple conclusions.

It's either actually a POS or the guy lives out in the middle of nowhere and no one wants to make the drive.

I was going to make a 3 hour trek from Portland to go look at it because finding a 325ix with the manual/coupe combo is rather rare in the PNW, but I didn't want to risk driving it back and having it break down.
>>
>>14848475
Kind of hard desu lad, you're probably not looking for the 150k + mileage examples.
But here's a few

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5510882926.html
05 c-class mercedes, money sink for sure but it sounds like it's mechanically solid atm.

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5501403852.html
high mileage V6 charger, what could go wrong?

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5512846369.html
Audi with a quattro and 5/spd, low mileage.

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5513785881.html
Avalon XLS. Yeah.

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5509182642.html
too good to be true probably, but a really good choice.

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5537828941.html
I dunno about swedish import shit but it's clean enough.

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5524387850.html
300C, kind of low mileage, might be a scam.

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5459073750.html
kek.

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5531291412.html
>NEW BREAKS

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5537994894.html
probably a scam, but this is a low mileage BMW 5 series from 00, like, under 100k.
That's pretty damn good.

Interest?

comfy reliable and low mileage, make sure it's mechanically sound tho

https://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/5499655160.html

but my suggestion would be to ignore it, if you're poor you probably can't afford to keep this baby up.

https://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/5501784260.html
intrepids are good cars, I grew up having two of them.
battery is known to fuck over occasionally, happened to my second one.
decent mileage, but female-owned.
check it carefully.

https://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/5503566113.html
decent kind of tasteful shitbox, red to go faster, 200,000 miles to weigh it down.

>>
>>14848663
main thing is most sports sedans with high mileage in that range will also be part of a larger luxury brand and subject to -occasionally- more expensive repairs.
the average joe looking to pay 6k for a car isn't trying to inherit chances of those repairs, you know?

Reno, Nevada?

This is a really good deal, but the 'trunk dent' comment is troubling. Proceed with caution.

Of course, if you're serious about buying any of these cars get them checked out by a mechanic to make sure there isn't any problems. It'll cost you a $100 (or a case of beer in some cases), but it'll save your ass in the long run.

Naturally ask the owner if it's okay if you get the car checked out before buying it, and if they act all weird about it, bail. There is something wrong with that car. You may also want to try to get the VIN numbers and get them checked out.

let's get started.

http://iowacity.craigslist.org/cto/5539176108.html
05 Volvo S40, 6 speed manual, 130k miles, looks clean

http://iowacity.craigslist.org/cto/5538140119.html
06 Nissan Maxima, 154k miles, automagic, mild ding on bumper, cheaper than the volvo.

http://iowacity.craigslist.org/cto/5537075251.html
96 Acura Integra LS
looks kind of riced, cheaper than all of the above, would be a good project car and fun to drive, however almost guaranteed to have at least minor issues. 150k miles on body, 20k on transmission, title says salvage.

http://iowacity.craigslist.org/cto/5532750641.html
06 Cobalt SS
103k miles, supercharged, automagic, title is salvage.

You really don't have much in your area desu senpai. I can bump the price up to 7-8k and see if some more musclier cars show up but it seems to be beaters and econobarges for the most part.
My personal pick? I'd probably go for the Volvo or the Maxima. Salvage tags rub me the wrong way. Volvo will be more reliable, Maxima probably more fun to drive.

Thinking of getting this one on saturday.

Would you? Guy said he's go down to 1200.
>>
>>14849341
that is a lot of miles. Ask him if he used it for a lot of interstate travel, because 230k in highway is bad.
Ask about major replaced parts. Trans, engine, etc.
Inspect for rust, take a look at brake pads and tire tread, also check under hood.
Do test drive. Feel for how it shifts, is the transmission moody, is the clutch tight, loose?
Get back and make sure nothing leaks. Listen when driving for anything that sounds funny when accelerating, braking, or turning.

At the very least it'll need some clear coat, but Civics are known for being reliable.
>>
>>14849341
same old song and dance man, check it out, drive it, take it to a mechanic, decide for yourself.

what does that mean? is it a fartcannon or OEM?
Do you want the system? you want to check electronics now as you don't know how good or bad of a job he did wiring those things in and taking them out.

Ill be running my OBD2 on it, and test driving it tomorrow.

I have a mechanics shop at my disposal so repairs arent bad.

He said no leaks, and the 4 extra tires are a tempting inclusion.

Im thinking worst case is a head gasket + piston ring replacement.

Miles aren't really an indicator because things are replaceable. From what i've seen, hondas are super easy to work on too.

unrelated, but reminds me of the whole ACA thing where almost about 1/3 of smaller regional health insurance providers went out of business because poor people don't buy health care unless they need it and now they're charging more through ACA than through regular insurance companies or else people are getting stuck with huge bills

that upsell tho mane
