Apparently Petro-Canada sells 94 octane on top of the usual 87/89/91

Apparently Petro-Canada sells 94 octane on top of the usual 87/89/91 you usually see. What cars would benefit from a octane rating this high?

I'm guessing this would be like a 100 RON for Europeans/Nips.
>>
maybe its a shill for 91 users to blow even more mula money bags

Tarbos
>>
Is that RM2 octane like they do in the States, or RON octane like they do in Yurp?

Technically nothing should be able to take advantage of the higher octane, but certain turbocharged engines may have part of their timing / boost map set to take advantage of the higher octane.

Note: if that octane boost is achieved by using extra ethanol, you may still not see the additional power because ethanol has less 'energy' than gasoline.

I'm fucking glad I don't live in that shithole, whew.

Costs $1.75 here.
>>
>>14847232

They're Canoodian dollars. Literally slightly more valuable than a peso.
>>
>>14847232
Old pic, it's currently around 90 cents a litre for 87 octane.
>>
>>14847212
Yeah but wouldnt it be in the fuel maps to increase fuel flow the higher the ethanol content
>>
>>14847249
Yeah but the Canadian dollar crashed down to US$0.78 after they elected that new prime minister, so about US$2.80/gal.

Huh, I could run a few more degrees of timing with that stuff.

>>
>>14847269
no that was before the election and it actually dropped lower then that. old PM based our entire fucking economy on oil so once it crashed our dollar crashed with it
>>
If you have your car put on the rollers and a tune you might be able to run a bit more boost and timing safely without detonation. Downside is you'd have to find a service station that sells 94 everytime you run low.
>>
>95 RON is the shittiest you can get here. Highest being at least 102 RON.
I guess you need a tune for the 102 for more than a 1-2% plus.
>>
>>14847197
It's not true 94, its just 91 with an additive at the pump. Just like they only have 2 tanks, one for 87 and one for 91, the 89 octane is mixed at the pump.

Tfw live in NZ and the shittiest fuel here is 91 octane, the highest being either 98 octane or 98 with 10% ethanol.
>>
>>14848861
NZ and Canada/US rates octane differently.

Your 98 equivalent in OP's pic would be 91
>>
>>14848153
you've been fooled m8 and you probably voted based on facebook memes. Oil is only a small fraction of Canadian exports but hey don't let facts get in the way of your retarded liberal logic

A while back I remember seeing 110 at the pump at a few Snowmobiling towns. Now I think you have to go to a race gas supplier.

That 94 is probably 91 with "additives", meh I don't really trust Petro Canada, Shell or nothing.

Go with Husky 94

my current civic si and my old lincoln both said premium fuel only in the manual and gas lid. I think the ls said 91+. Im pretty sure both run way better off premium I can feel it in my SI especially in vtec

Your internet a shit mate

I am shitposting from my unlimited 25/5 fixed wireless right now for $80 a month and 100mbit is $110
>>
Just about every gas station near me has 87/89/93.

93 is like $2 a gallon right now
>>
>>14847197
Any Japannese performance car that hasn't yet been retuned, as their premium is 100RON.

Most modern cars will have maps to take advantage of fuel all the way up to 100RON.
>>
>>14848861
98RON is 93AKI, dickhead.
This '94' is 98 with 10% ethanol, usually called '100RON' at united and shit.

We run the 94 in our school formula SAE car. Its a cbr600 f4i engine that's been tuned to make the most of the regulation intake restriction. Running less than 93 is a no-go for us
>>
Where I live it's either 91 ethanol fee or 93 10% ethanol.
>>
>>14847197
A car that is tuned to run on premium gas runs best under ideal conditions. Sitting in traffic in summer's heat is not ideal. As intake temps rise, your car becomes more prone to pinging, and your car will retard timing to compensate. Retarded timing means less power, so that retard octane actually serves some purpose. It compensates for warm-weather running in high-strung cars.
>>
>>14849267
That looks fun! How much power/weight?
>>
>>14849130
I can drive an LS1, pretty slow but certainly no econobox.
>>
>>14847249
Where the actual fuck do you live? I'm in Vancity and it's like fucking $1.30 for 91 still
>>
What gas station would my freedom bros recommend that I stay away from? Places like shell and mobile jack their prices 14 cents higher than any other gas station but I don't wanna be saving a dime with winter quality gas in the summer

My buddy uses it for his BMW S1000RR, it needs 98 RON, so the anti knock whatever retard system we use makes 91 only like 95-97 RON.

I rock a Fairlady Z32 and a BNR32 GT-R.

When I put in 91, it feels normal.

I kid you not, when I put in 94, it feels faster, almost as if the engine revs up quicker.

I realize this is probably not the case, but I could swear I can feel and hear it.

I can't explain it.

about 24% of your exports are petroleum in 2014. this fell dramatically in 2014. it's certainly not the basis of the "entire fucking economy" but it certainly is a substantial part.

also canada was making good money when oil was $130-$140 a barrel whereas canada can't make money at current prices. this puts lots of people out of jobs and companies hemorrhaging money.

2015*

There's a lot of talk about the CAD to USD getting as low as $1 CAD :: $0.62 USD. It depends on how the government action to keep things going works.
>>
>>14850895
It's only like $0.90 in Kitchener. Usually only a few cents more in the GTA.

Owner's manual says 93+, but 91 can be used without damaging engine in the long run. Chevron 94 seems to make it run better than Shell 91
>>
>>14847197
Yeah I use Petro 94. Not really because it's 94 (my car is designed for 91), but because their additives are good shitâ„¢.

Here in central IL we only have 87, 89, and 93. Shell sells 92 that's generally 20 cents more than 93 at another station.

The WRX STI specifies 94 octane in the owners manual. 91 will do in a pinch.
