Just how "expensive" is maintenance? In USD, preferably.

Same as most other cars, really, unless something breaks. I can't really give you a good idea on any of that though because I can get cheap secondhand parts from places here like Upgarage or iParts or Yahoo Auctions Japan.

Good mate of mine has a gts-4 that he's respraying in gunmetal and going full gtr style kit. He's trying to find an rb25neo from an awd stagea at the moment as he wants to have awd for dem rainy dayss

It's all in primer now ready for paint, so many rust repairs on that car, so many dents and low spots aswell. Everything is 100% now.

Nah they're pretty rare around here aswell. Being a 4 door aswell we don't have many of them in the first place. He picked it up for $2k, came with receipts for a gearbox recon and full engine rebuild done 20k kms ago aswell. It had just been sitting in the weather for 3 years not getting driven so the paint was fucked and it was fairly rusty in a few places. So much time went into fixing it all, gave him a hand pretty much every weekend for the last 4 months and he's been working on it every night. Should be real tidy when it's painted

Depends on what you're looking at. U.S.? Base or SE? KA or SR/other swap? Manual or Auto? Clean body/interior? I paid 2k for my auto base model 4 lug slicktop zenki which is a pretty good deal in WA considering shells go for 1.5-2k.

I'd like it to be as stock as possible. Base would be fine. I can swap it to manual, and an auto would probably be less molested.
Even completely stock zenkis are listed for like $5000 at the least here.

>>
>>14847121
Expect to pay around 3.5-4k for a clean title zenki car. The auto prices compared to manual prices don't vary all too much but for a clean title stock car it's definently going to be around 3.5k. My first s14 was 3.5k and it was base model with 140k. Beware though, definently hold out for a clean s14 because parts are nowhere near as easy to find as s13 parts and they are much more expensive.
>>
>>14847121
>>14847542
Also keep in mind, base model is 4 lug, usually no sunroof, often non-abs, no front fog lights, no trunk spolier. It really only limits wheel choices and brake upgrades but the 5 lug swap is also not very cheap compared to s13's.

>>
>>14847722

the days of untouched s13's in the junkyard are over my friend. I never passed up a mint dash or interior part when I found one, so no regrets.

You can build a s13 almost completely out of aftermarket parts, so its not that bad for us 240 bros. The real ass kicker is exterior door trim, rubber window seals, and other no longer sold interior trim.

Don't own a Z32 but I have driven the TT model of my mates and an N/A once.

They handle really nice, can be pretty scarey if it kicks out sideways though as the short wheel base makes them really snappy. Vg30 is a cunt to work on, we had to replace a power steering line on my friends TT model and it took us 2 hours to do it. If you have small hands it helps haha. There also bad for heater hoses going, and it's an engine out job to replace them so I'd be asking if the heater hoses have been replaced when you look at one. N/A have a bit more room but it's still a cramped bay.

Sitting in them feels like you are literally sitting on the floor, if your short it might be a bit of a pain to setup your seat position.

hey /nsg/, I just came into 200-300$ that I'm thinking of putting towards car parts and I don't know what I should get for my z32 na 2+2. Recently got a front and rear strut brace (only put the front one in so far), reworked the brakes + SS steel lines, changed out some of the bushings to poly, and I have new tires coming in on monday. Is there anything cheap I can drop 200-300 on that I should either to just get out of the way or because it's something cool to have. And yes, I do have a rainy day fund for the car in case it breaks down (around 1k) so I don't really want to put it there. Thoughts? Also, if I have a ticking noise coming from the engine bay that I can only hear when the hood is open, does that mean I have lifter tick? One of my friend's dad's who is a mechanic listened to it and said that it didn't sound terrible and that his guess is it's either the way the engine is supposed to sound or mild lifter tick. Is that something I should be worried about? Is lifter tick just a mild inconvenience or is it something I should be getting ready to drop money on?
>>
>>14864719
is she missing part of her arm
>>
>>14864719
The tick is probably nothing, just keep changing ur oil on time. Seriously, put the money into your rainy day fund because if the injectors ever need to be replaced, you're not going to be able to cover it
>>
>>14864977
the car's not that high in terms of mileage though, I'm only at 89k. Don't think that injectors are going to go anytime soon because I went to a 300ZX specialist near me for a check-up and he said that the car's in great shape for it being a Z32 and that he'd even trust it on long road trips. So far I haven't had any "real" issues with it either. Also thanks, I'm due for an oil change in another thousand miles so I'll get on that and see if it helps with the ticks. I did notice that when I changed my oil 2k miles ago the ticking wasn't there at all. Was just thinking, what about a 3 point sparco belt? I hit the touge a lot on the weekends with my friends and with the stock seatbelt I end up sliding around in my seat a lot. A 3 point sparco belt isn't terribly expensive, would look pretty cool, and would make for comfier rides. Thoughts?

Wouldn't bother with seatbelts if you don't have decent seats. Harnesses are a pain in the ass on the street, can't move arouns to see shit. I'd turn the "rainy day fund" into a car parts fund for actual decent parts that will make a difference. Save up then splash out on a few things.

mines running 285bhp atm, just on a T28, saab FMIC, zorst + map. They should be good for 350 right?

i heard someone say they reckon they came standard with forged internals that can't be true can it?

I've only had RB25DET/SR20DET before this so CA18DET world is new to me.

Well, the /ddt/ isn't up and it's technically a Nissan.
I've got a 1981 280zx 2+2 I'm trying to get working again. When peeking around, I found this.
Where is this line supposed to go? It's clear, brittle and has snapped, but has the residue from some red fluid in it.

That must be a pretty happy dyno to put 285 out of a CA with a t28 unless it runs e85?

So now my gearbox is replaced I'm leaking gear oil. Only a little drip but it's frustrating. Shop that worked on my car has put on the plastic cover that goes underneath the engine which means it's a cunt to jack up now aswell.. I have no idea where it came from desu, must of come off of someone elses car but I wasn't charged for it so who knows.

you live a rough life blue nissan guy
>>
>>14875959
When the car is good it's great. When it's not good I just laugh at it and throw more money at it. Pretty sure it's leaking from the drain plug. Might have a look at it this weekend if I can be bothered with it. Might just be able to put some thread tape on it and hope for the best.

Why did Nissan stop making affordable sporty cars?

Why did the entire industry in general stop making affordable RWD cars? The Toyobaru is pretty much the only one I can think of that isn't a Muscle/Pony car.
>>
Is that blue 180 in Western Australia? Swear I've seen it before.
>>
>>14875999
Probably since renault bought them.

I guess there isn't a big enough market for them. I think the reason the toyobaru went so well was because there is really no competition for it and the "muh ae86 bro" guys.

Is lifter tick bad or just annoying? Does it usually get worse? Should I just try changing my oil with what I usually use and if it doesn't get better use less viscous oil? Is it dangerous to drive sround with lifter tick?
>>
>>14876183
it means the lifters are sticking a bit (I think) so yes it can get bad.

use MORE viscous oil to see if it helps (or an additive if you want)

I can't see the actuator for the butterflies hanging off your intake. Another way to tell is the position of the injectors.
Forged rods and cam according to some forums, but I'd take that with a grain of salt.

tarbo drama and unreliability turns me off.

is the "tarbo is unreliable" bogeyman just a thing lazy retards say?
>>
>>14879660
Not exactly, they require more maintenance then n/a engines, and have moving parts that can break.

Not to mention some people with them have more boost pressure then IQ sometimes.
>>
>>14879702
yeah but can you actually do maintenance on a turbine yourself?

I'd keep it completely stock if it makes any difference
>>
>>14879747
I can't, and I doubt many other anons can either.

But in principle more moving parts means there is more parts that can break.
>>
>>14879775
I know but if all they need to run healthy is oil changes and a cleaning after 50k, it's really not that big of a deal
>>
>>14879804

dyno'd at 285 or 280 ill find the print out if i can.

Looks like it needs quite a lot of work to get it decent for street, especially for $3.5k. Rolling shells in better condition then that go for about $1.5k or less here, would be a better option if you want to make something noice. Unless ofcourse there is no rolling shells for sale
