Found a 944 on CL going for $4000. Looks clean, but has a few negatives:
>Interior could use some work
>Minor paint damage
>AC is erratic sometimes
>No power steering
There are 190000 miles it. What's a decent price for this? I'm willing to pay for all the expenses that come up, as it can't be more than $500/month unless I'm just *that* unlucky.
>it can't be more than $500/month
>>14841773
you could get a seriously nice car for $500 a month
why on earth would you settle on a 944 on its last legs
$7-900
It's called the 944 because that's how many things will cause problems in the next 1000km

Buying Car: 4k
OR
Leasing: 500/m
Literally like me selling my house for $5000 or letting someone rent it for 12 months at 1000/m
Like are you retarded or something
>>14841773
These are 6-7k cars, so you'll spend at least the difference in repairs.
>>14841773
>$500/mo
What the fuck is wrong with you
I only gave the $500/month figure because that's how much I'm willing to spend. I'd rather NOT spend that much on a brand new car. That's just nuts.
>>14841828
Wait, you're will to spend 500/mo on a car with 190k on it, but NOT a new car? One that comes with warranty for everything that goes wrong with it?
Jesus christ.
>>14841814
besides the fact the deal covers maintenance during the lease.....
>>14841821
>>14841814
He doesn't mean leasing it/financing it. He's saying that the cost of repairs and upkeep on a 944 can't be more than $500 a month.
He is also wrong.

At least find a better car than the mk3 Supra of the Porsche world.
>yeah I have a porsche
>oh yeah I drove there in my porsche
>yeah I remember when I had my supra...
Pic related, you are as stupid as this captcha
>>14841874
I'm not buying it for the badge. I just happen to like the looks, and want a light weight RWD manual sports car to commute 15min to work. It's not my main car either, so if it breaks, no big deal.
>>14841948
>light weight RWD manual sports car to commute 15min to work.
Then buy a Miata. It's a damn sight more reliable than a Porsche 944.
>>14841948
hey guys i'm looking for a 4wd to take on trails every now and then, wont be my main car, should i get this 1994 Range Rover?
>>14842156
A Range Rover Classic is actually a better choice than a Porsche 944. The only thing you have to worry about on the RRC is the electrical system; everything else is solid. I myself wouldn't recommend it if you aren't going to go full Safari-Style because of the parts situation, but it's not pants-on-head retarded.
Hmm, not even for $3k?
>>14842196
Consider the state a $3k Porsche has to be in, OP.
Everybody here likes to meme about 944's but 95% of them have never owned one. At 190k I would buy one with less miles, but they are excellent cars. They aren't particularly reliable, but as long as they are maintained correctly they are fine.
>>14842196
You don't want a cheap 944, since again, you'll just be spending multiple thousands on fixes and hit 7k total anyway.
>>14842218
>as long as they are maintained correctly they are fine.
And there's the kicker. A 944 on Craigslist for $3,000 is very unlikely to be correctly maintained.
>>14841773
500 a month that's almost enough to do payments on a 996 911 turbo.
300 a month cam get.you a damn nice.used.coyote 5.0 or 5th Gen ss camaro. Gtos can be had for less than that. Why the hell are.you looking at a 944.
>>14842273
Well, a lot has to do on the looks. I'm just not a fan of the cars that you mentioned...
I'm open to more reliable imports though! I just want to drive a car I like, you know?
Why buy a 944 for $4000 when you can get a Corvette the same year?
>>14842287
MR2?
>>14841773
I'd go for a post 85 with fewer miles on it, try and fine a Porsche specialist who will do a prepurchase inspection on it if you're serious about buying it. The moneypit is a meme, but you have to be diligent and serious about maintenance.
>>14841773
Lol, brace your asshole
>had a 924
>was a great car, no -major- issues for a few months
>$100~200 tops
>enter month six
>exhaust header goes
>starter decides to join it
>and the removable section of the roof decides it's done playing nice and develops a massive leak
And mine only had 182000 KM, not Miles.
>>14842299
Oh! Never heard of the MR2, it looks nice!

How's the reliability in comparison to the 944? Just going to assume that because it's a Toyota, it's far more reliable than a Porsche (but what the hell do I know).
>>14845436
It's basically a Toyota parts-bin car, a mid-engined Corolla with the reliability to match.
Transverse mid-mounted engine is a bit of a bitch to work on, but you'll manage somehow.
What's wrong with no power steering
>>14845445
Nothing, if the car is light enough.
>>14845444
the second gen has a Camry engine (mostly)
>>14845436
>doesn't know what an MR2 is
>wants to buy a fucking Porsche
