I couldn't lock myself to one particular brand, it also depends on what decade we're talking about too.

Currently it's a mix up between Mazda and Ford, both seem to really be pushing the envelope for affordable driver focused cars.

Though they don't make the highest quality of things they always think outside the box with the little resources they have compared to other brands.

Was the first US company to experiment with aerodynamics in the 30's and 60's, first company to have a mass produced car that made over 300hp, hemis of course, turbine cars, invented the minivan, the Viper, made a comfortable muscle car instead of a pony car in the 2000's

I love what they were doing with cars and their ambitions. Unfortunately they never got the respect i think they deserved and never had the chance to show their true potential. although what potential they did show still blew the competition away as far as the Motorsports they entered go and performance in general.

This led to their cars being heavily restricted or banned outright completely in SCCA, IMSA and the FIA.

They only ever sold around 200 or so overall cars throughout their run as an independent company. who knows what they'd be making if they had a huge budget and a little brand prestige.

They wouldn't have been able to enter Motorsports at all if they did that (plus they were selling them well over $100,000 and i don't think they allow kit-cars with GT-production based cars) and people would dismiss them as any sorta competitor to a real production car kinda like people did with the Venom GT vs Veyron.

imagine the shitposting (not that id engage in it) you could do if they made something with less horsepower than the competition of today while being waaay lighter with better gas mileage and set a time under or near 7 minutes.

The Consulier GTP for example got around 30 or so MPG and did 0-60 around 5 and of course it could corner fast considering it was banned from SCCA all while passing crash test with flying colours (this was all in the mid 1980s).

They always include the "fun factor" in every car they make. The MazdaSpeed lineup makes their already great cars that much better.

Also, they rarely do the "America doesn't get this trim" bullshit that so many Japanese automotive manufacturers do. Honda with their Type-R's, Nissan with their Silvia's, and other manufacturers do. Whole cars, I understand. But you really cant send us that same car with the better options?

Overall favourite has to be honda, that squeezed great power out of tiny engines at the time. Now they're pretty lazy at least in North America.
