If you had unlimited ressources to put any engine in any chassis, what would you build?

I would couchbuild a 60's Italian GT with an RB26 engine. Without the turbos tho. Yes, it won't make a whole lot of power but that's not the point of a GT, is it? It would look and sound brillant. It would be something new but not "unethical", I mean the RB26 is handbuilt.

Why the fuck would you do that? An RB is uglier and sounds worse than a classic italian 6, even if the wop motor is garbage.

Why do people like RB so much? It's been engineered in late '80s and it's fucking outdated, unreliable and heavy as fuck. If Skylines had LS1 in, people wouldn't even know RB exists. Not trying to bait people into a shitstorm, genuinely interested.
>>
>>14818121
I never said Nissans I6 sound ~better~. But I love the RB-sound and the fact that if you maintain it well, you can go much further for much cheaper than a Maserati engine. Also, when's the last time Maserati built an I6? The 50s?
>>
>>14818137
Have you driven an RB engined car before? I own a RB25 powered one and the engine is just lovely. It lacks a little torque but with an RB34 that shouldn't be an issue. Apart from that I absolutely adore it. May not be the best engine in the world but my god do I like it.

A J-85 jet engine hidden away in a custom 60s van with double axles for stability at speed. Crude model related, translucent roof only for illustration. Cruise to the drag strip on the petrol engine, open the motorized rear doors and a motorized air intake in the roof, do a few jet runs down the quarter mile, close everything up again, cruise home on the petrol engine.

The J-85 isn't actually very heavy. It's used in jet dragsters and weighs under 400 pounds naked. And I'd have a second gen Chevy Van in mind, those came with small blocks between the seats. I'm more worried about the length of the engine with an afterburner. Even in the LWB Chevy Van from the late 60s you only have 106-ish inches to work with in the back, and in the 70s all the vans grew to full size dimensions which makes them much harder to push around.

Yea but that's not what the thread is asking, is it.

You could spec the later ones with a 7.0L anyway, so an LS7 would be a more appropriate motor if the question was asking what motor would suit a restomod.
>>
>>14820926
fair enough. if I could put any engine in one I honestly would go with the V8 out of an E9x M3 or a 458 italia. shrieking loud and revs to the moon.
