I've got a £7000 budget (I'm leaving 2000 in reserve for maintenance, shitty mawds etc) and I was looking at AE86s I know these are popular on /o/ but obviously not as amazing as they are in the cartoon. What are they like on an everyday basis?
I've seen a few, but these caught my eye, although I don't want to have to deal with shady importers.

a 30 year old corolla
Go get an E70 Corolla for $1,500-.
>>14816431
just get a newer corolla
depends what you want out of it though

I wanted something fun. That I can fling around corners.
Track day bro, etc, etc
> $7k budget
>corolla
Buy an e46

I don't know what prices you get in the UK, but maybe you can look into sports cars too?
Is this for a weekend car?
Unless I'm missing something, the 86 isn't much of a performance car compared to other options.

Literally there only benefit is RWD. It's a 30 year old shitbox
>>14816431
For £7k you could get an S2000, 350z or loads of different hot hatches that would be much better than an AE86, they are probably the most overpriced cheap car around
>>14816548
£7000 would buy:
>'97 Rx-7
>'97 Supra (auto)
>'01 Boxster (986)
>'02 E46 M3
>'99 E39 M5
>'90 205 GTi
>'03 VX220
>'00 S14a (unmodified)

"Yeah but muh waifu likes JDM shitboxes and I already ordered the trueno badge from Ebay"
>>14816667
I mean if you're into oldtimers I guess it would be worth it.
But then again, you probably would want quite a bit more than 7k
>>14816656
£7000 for an RX7? Get the fuck out.
>>14816686
It's a rollin chassis because the rotary has already blown.
Seriously, buy a low mileage e46 for 5k and put the rest in suspension, tires, and maintenance

£6700

I'm interested in all of those, the problem is that I've not hit the point where car Insurance starts to become reasonable, I'm 20 (Couldn't afford the test at the time, but I knew how to drive) So anything that's decent with any kind of good stock performance is... difficult to find.
>>14816686
RHD cars aren't worth anything m8.
>>14816701
>76K miles, described as "Low".
>No mention of a compression test.
>Colour changed.
If you think thats worth a dabble for £6700, you're a braver man than I. Granted you ain't going to get a perfect RX7, but that seems like a lemon desu.
