I know you're all sick of the "Is the 944 a gud first car" meme so I'll hit you with this instead: Are the 986's and 914's good first cars?

Best first porsche for anything would be a 356/912
914's arent bad
944's are actually not a bad first car, unless you dont do the work yourself, in which case you cant afford any porsche.
914s are pretty rough to drive, if you've driven a Beetle or VW bus it's not far off. The shifting is possibly the worst of any sports car, feels like an oar in a barrel of jello. I would look into a Karmann Ghia over a 914 just because they are a lot cheaper and drive about the same.

As a first car, the 912s and 356s are unobtainable. As a first Porsche, they are great choices. Although really an air cooled 911 is the usual recommendation.
Should I be worried about IMS bearings at 100k+ miles? These are less than 6k in my area
>Is a European car a good first car for Americans
No

Have a spare motor/2k$ on hand and you're fine.

I think if they lasted 100k miles without IMS failure they probably don't have that fault.

The mileage doesn't matter. Best to just get a preventative measure installed next time you have an engine-out service.

How much is an aftermarket IMS bearing? One with a fixed design? I have to assume they exist.
Man up faggots. 914 with SBC swap is mad easy and super fun to drive.
