Daily reminder that god-tier vicr grips and other tools can be obtained from the dollar store for $1.

>he goes to Sears
>he goes to bennie's
>he goes to Harbor Freight
Tell me, /o/, why do you overpay for tools so recklessly?
>>
Brands make me feel good
>>
I don't want them to break at inconvenient times.
>>

i'm not poor like you
>>
>>14796900
Have you used cheap ass vice grips? I have a set of harbor freight ones that should have been thrown in the trash on day 1. They don't stay clamped no matter how much or how little pressure you're squeezing something with and the rivets are janky as heck. You get what you pay for.

Vice grips are really just a hammer in disguise. I regret getting them into my toolbox.
>>
Daily reminder that when a tool breaks, sending your knuckles to be impaled on exposed bolts you'll gladly have spent the extra $5 as your teach your neighbor's kids new words.

Buy good quality tools once, or buy shitty tools and spend the rest on ER visits.
>>
>>14796900
Pls remember that vice grips will not turn that bolt/stud/screw that you couldn't turn with your 1/2" ratchet/screw driver/stud extractor etc
>>
>>14796900
Nothing god-tier can be purchased at a dollar store.
>>
>>14796900
Because real VISE grips are better.

I have a pair of mac branded knipex-manufactured side cutters. hard to find in Canada.

I have a couple of sets of cheap vice grips, the jaws wobble side to side too much under load. Not worth it. Not saying you should buy snap on shit, just not dollar store/harbor freight vice grips

Amazon obviously

I buy the majority of my tools online. The knipex cobras and pliers wrench are must haves.

i used to crap in these, like all the time.

You might have crapped in mine, cause that is exactly what it smelled like when I got it

Have another that I planned on using as a toolbox aswell that I bought at an auction when they were shutting down a depot close to where I studied, but after I bought it I realised that the thing still had all the detonation equipment inside (caps, fuses, wire cutter, clamps, string and so on)

While I've never liked chinese tools. There are some tool companies based out of Taiwan that make a great product. Grey pneumatic and sunex come to mind.

where my mastercraft bros at?
>>
>>14797612
Isn't that the brand sold at Menards? I think I have a few screw drivers and sockets by that brand
>>

Bitch please

Many a stubborn bolt I've busted loose with nothing but vice grips and elbow grease
>>

Canadian tire branded tools

my first set of tools were mastercraft maximum. ended up giving it to my dad when I bought snappy sockets and the like.
>>
>>14797634
This

Vise grips are useful af
>>
>>14797572
Still got it? I will buy it off you.
>>
>>14797578
Yea I've got a set of craftsman ratchets from the early 80s that were made in Taiwan and the chrome finish has held up to abuse better than any of my snap on ratchets.
>>
I have some Harbor Freight welding clamps that I use sacrificially (when I have to weld or cut right up next to them) and even they are too shitty, I would have been better off getting $30 ones and trashing them once a year. The ones pictured in the OP aren't usable for anything, they are worth a lot less than 1 dollar, you would have to pay me to use them and deal with the frustration and possibly fucking something up.
>>
>>14797400
Power Is best flavor
>>
the only thing i ever use vice grips for are to keep a failed hood strut up. I think this is because I have good quality tools that don't fuck up bolts and nuts.
>>
>>14797612

Mastercrap master race.

Nothing beats the life time warranty, and the girls behind the return desk can't tell you have had an 8 foot pipe on the end of a 3/8s ratchet and stripped every tooth inside of it.

Plus they go on sale all the fucking time. 25 cents a piece in a kit of 400 pieces? Yes please.

>knipex
hnnnnnng

I bought me a nice Channel Lock adjustable the other day and got dad a set of Knipex cutters for Xmas 2015. Truly patrician tier.
>>
I use Craftsman sockets and such, I had a nice like 250 piece set with a bunch of basic sockets, that's my main use one. Impacts I get Harbor Freight as well as some of my smaller pliers and snips. I don't use them too much. I did recently buy a nice Klien Tools stripper and cutter/crimper because I had a shitty all-in-one from a Sears set and that's one thing I can't tolerate is shitty wire strippers. I do have a Lisle oil filter wrench. Currently do not have any Mac or Snap-On, but if I have to replace anything I'll probably try to go Snap-On, they have them at the shop at my work and they are truly top tier. Problem is, right now I don't have the space to do a whole lot on my car other than basic shit, my car life is all a mess right now. As I start using tools more I may invest in nicer shit.

There are $3,000 worth of pliers in this drawer
>>
>>14799408
I came.

I would never need that sort of specific sizes but god damn I would love like 1/5th of that drawer even.
>>
>>14799408
Pliers are generally worthless. Either I need a specific wrench size or I'm lazy and use a crescent or really lazy and use vice grips. The fuck I need some adjustable shit pliers for? Twist the head of my cock off?
>>
>>14799841
>pliers are worthless

Opinion discarded. You've obviously never handled a quality pair if pliers.

Good snap ring pliers are worth their weight in gold. My plier wrench fits fittings better than my godawful craftsman combo wrenches.
>>
>>14797218
hah! Euro fag here, so hospital is free
>>
>>14797451
I use Snap-On and Craftsman
>>
>>14799957
Craftsman sucks. I used some snap on snap ring pliers the other day and never have I been more confident or satisfied while installing snap rings. I guess it's like they say.

There is a difference.

it's unfortunate but that company is going to go away very soon the way the CEO is running out. sorry about the rant here but it's just pretty sad that some rich asshole owns the company, doesn't know shit about retail, and has made the fate of the company lie in dismay, bankruptcy, and eventually closure
>>
Matco and snap on are the only way to go
>>
>>14800203
But what'll replace Sears? Craftsman and i have so much to do?

Canadafag here. Mastercraft from Canadian Tire is out new Craftsman.

Also, new taiwanese snap-on stuff is shit teir, I've seen better chroming on havanero taxi bumpers

Craftsman still has a lot of brand power. They'll live on even if sears files for chapter 48, probably through some other chain. Even lowe's cheap ass tools are guaranteed for life.

I just did today actually stud was stripped to shit
